Bit too much of a Chintzy fashion statement for me, but if it allows JLR to build more 'proper' Range Rovers then excellent.
I'd think this is a good alternative; (A6 Allroad)
As a general rule I don't really like Audi's, but this would seem to be a much better proposition to me.
You are saying that an Evoque is a "Chintzy fashion statement" and then suggest an A6 allroad as a more credible alternative???I'd think this is a good alternative; (A6 Allroad)

I think they're great cars. A lot of people are complaining about the price but people also moan about the price of a new Golf. Cars are expensive these days.
I think it's different to cars that Land Rover has built in the past but some people just don't like change I guess
I keep saying it but my evoque was less than 30k and i think its decent value.I think it's different to cars that Land Rover has built in the past but some people just don't like change I guess
td4 manaual 4x4 pure, has full leather, cruise, auto lights/wipers, fantastic stereo, blue tooth connectivity, dual zone climate also specced front fogs and a spare wheel.
It has all the toys i will need and compared to say a 320d estate which is of a similar size it think its good value.
I agree a 50k evoque with all the bells and whistles is not vary good value.
I would have considered one as my next company car. However 2 things put me off. No non leather option (I mean no leather at all, ie not half leather that comes as standard) and the front seats only move back at a snail's (electrically) pace to let access to the rear (I did not want 4 door).

We went to look at one last weekend and noticed the same thing. I've never seen a coupe that you have to stand there holding a button waiting for the seat to move forward to get people in the back and then same in reverse. The dealer also doesn't do test drives of the Evoque at weekends which was quite inconvenient.Alex L said:

Absolutely!
It's a bauble. A trinket for footballer's wives and those who have migrated MINIs because the Evoque is now the latest fashion accessory. Space inside it is poor, I couldn't believe it when I got in one for the first time... purely style over function. And then Posh Spice was employed to tweak & market it. For these reasons I loathe it.
However....
It's selling well and if people are stupid enough to spend that much money on one, that's their issue.... and more to the point, it's nicely topping up the piggy bank of a company I love dearly (JLR, not Tata, LOL!) and for that reason, actually, I don't mind it.

Rural, serial 3 series touring owner wants a similarly well-spec'd and screwed together motor that won't see them spending two to three months a year worrying about not being able to leave the house/get back home again, or bending wheels on potholes.
This is what Mrs Digga did. Bought a 'sensible' spec Ewok, loaded with more gizmos than her last BMW and it cost her less than she payed for a top-spec 320d in 2007. Okay it's a teeny bit thirstier and doesn't handle quite as well, but both of these difference, in the real, day-to-day commute, are marginal.

even the drug dealer rear glass cant hide how dull that car looks, oozes beige from its perfect shut lines I'd think this is a good alternative; (A6 Allroad)

I have had mine since March and once people see round the VB sales crap and get in it or travel in it they see what a good car they are, begrudgingly! Done 15k in mine and it has been brilliant. Leave in the Dales so helpful in rain/snow situations and the odd bit of field travel (nothing near off road but a 320 would struggle). Nowhere near the practicality of the previous 520 or a dynamic but I love it.
The cheap, white 3dr ones are handbags however .....
Also made in the UK and we need to support UK manufacturing why give the money to the Germans at the first point (I appreciate that JLR are Indian ultimately but they are investing in UK plc)
Dealer gave me a lift in one when they were doing work on the Full Fat. Interior was very nice, but visibility is no where near as good as the Freelander and that engine on a 50k car..no no no.
The dealer tried offering me 50K for my 1 year old FF Autobiography Black (so 50% less than what I paid for it). I know you should not compare new with old, but come on... a new 2.2L Evoque vs 1 yr old 4.4TdV8 FF...

I just hate it when manufacturers call cars what they are emphatically not. This is as much a coupe as the BMW X6 is a sporty car... It's a frakking 3 door hatchback, FFS....
Somewhat O/T but this tweaked my interest... "Coupe" has to be the most misappropriated label in the automotive world! Over the years, I've had 5 different cars that've sported the Coupe moniker and they have all, in the main, been fairly different interpretations:Saab 99 Combi Coupe
Citroen Xsara VTS Coupe
Peugeot 406 Coupe
Rover 216 Coupe
Volkswagen Passat "Comfort Coupe"

A desirable luxury “product” that sells at a premium price and has a long waiting list. Best of all, it is made in Britain. Well done Jaguar Land Rover, keep it up.
It's nice to know there's someone else on here that gets this car. It's not an Audi Q5 or an A6 All-road because those things are unbelievably bland. The Evoque is infinitely more fun than the competition in this segment. It's a premium product with a premium price and offers a premium ownership experience. Why resent that?http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideos/280396...
It's a nice looking car and the one I sat in and had a good look round, felt well put together.
Not quite as usable as my 2.7TD RRS, but if I was after a car that I didn't need so much room in I'd consider it.
There was a Purple one on the Overfinch stand (think it was them) at the Goodwood FoS that looked fantastic.
