Can anyone recommend a 4x4 to fulfil the following?
Must be.......
Capable off road - mainly steep gravel inclines
Capable of safely pulling 2500kg on 2000km long trips
Capable (without trailer) of cruising comfortably at 80-90mph
Either lpg 15+mpg or diesel 30+mpg(at normal cruising speeds without trailer)
Reliable and DIY fixable/serviceable
Must have airco and be comfy for long road trips
Must be a European model (sadly no yanks) for import - also built before 1996
Thanks in advance

Don't have a budget? Landcruiser springs to mind, along with Nissan Patrol. Grand Cherokee is a good shout but weren't they launched in '96?
Also, what do you mean European model? As in sold over here or Euro manufacturer, because at that age it was really only Land Rover, the Yanks and the Japs doing this sector of the market...

Price isn`t "too" important - it`s gonna be a keeper so 5-8ooo quid should be enough. Also, what do you mean European model? As in sold over here or Euro manufacturer, because at that age it was really only Land Rover, the Yanks and the Japs doing this sector of the market...

Sold new in Europe - it makes it easier to get the certificate of conformity (proof of homologation) to import it into Portugal. Yank cars are near impossible.
The best I have come up with is a 1990-1995 Rangerover on lpg.
Are there any better models/years to look out for?
Was air suspension available then? If so, is it worth the hassle - or better look for conventional springs?
Looking for something at the lower end of my budget, leaving a couple of £k to fix it up.
