Just looking to replace my 330d with something more fun. Only use my 'daily' on weekends! And would like something cheap to do trackdays in without a 2nd car.

These look great value, 220hp, look great.

So any good for trackdays? Any good for the odd 300 mile trip and local runs?

I own one (up for sale!)
Wouldn't say they are a great track car but very nice weekend car and cope well on long journeys.
Very quick, comfortable and sound fantastic.
Quite a little head turner of a car.

Do you have a link to ad?

Just watched a clarkson review (where he compares it to loads of other coupes) think I'm sold!

Wouldn't a 330d be quicker and handle better? (X2 with a remap)

And be more economical?

And more reliable?

Had a 3.0 Gtv and found it to be too soft, and nose heavy, not a very sporty car to drive.
A lot of car for the money but not a track car.

I have a GTV V6 and an E36 328 Sport - as much as I love the Alfa there id no way would I put the Alfa on track in preference to the E36.

Buy an E36, get decent suspension fitted and you have a great road / track car

Great car - quick and stylish...complete bargain. Feel special to be in, and sound great. Quick on the road but probably not great on a track. Look for one that's had cmabelt/water pump and be wary of rear suspension clonks and groans.

If the track day was the prominent part, I'd be considering a 75, or if I can't live with the looks, an Alfetta GTV6. Then you get the engine sound and RWD and a great back road toy because it always feels alive, but you also get a lousy interior, a fuel tank that will be marginal on 300 miles, 25 year old Alfa maintenance tasks and the worst gear change they ever made. But it looks good and will make an E36 feel like sensory deprivation.
