Ive got a 335d touring with an Evolve remap wink
I bought it as a family car as we just had a baby. Its basically replaced my M3 and an S2000.
Its no hot hatch, its a smooth GT car rather than a back road blaster, especially compared to previous cars.
That said its effortless in its pace, and when driven sensibly on a long run at steady revs around 85mph it returns over 40mpg, its around down and constant acceleration/ deceleration that can put that figure down to mid 20s, depending on my right foot.
The I drive takes some getting used too, but its pretty good when you get the hang of it.
My main critism is the auto box. Its my first auto, and I find it doesnt do exactly what I want it to do at times, and there is next to no engine braking, which means I use the brakes more which just feels wrong to me. Maybe I will get used to it, as Ive only had it a month.
The X5 will have the advantage in the snow with the 4wd, it depends if you want an estate or a 4x4.
The 335 does feel planted on the road at speed, and has enough grunt to get past most traffic on my way to work.
Drive them both and see for yourself.
