I am hoping someone can shed some light on an electrical fault with a Focus ST3

In short the electrics have failed twice in the last couple of weeks (Ford garage sorted it out but it lastet 4 days)

The electrics over a couple of days deteriorate from the fuel tank saying 0 miles till empty despite it being half full, to turbo gaugues going mad when at idle to the car cutting out at random points due to the key not being detected (keyless entry).

The AA men have said it is a known fault on newer mondeos, and the garage manager admitted this also, but no-one seems to know how to fix it.

It is still under warranty so any help we can give the garage to fix it would be gratefully appreciated!

tried a new battery? when they are just about to give up you can sometimes get these kind of symptoms...

Probably absolutely no help at all but I accidentally hehe drove a work Focus through a large puddle the other day and it really upset the electrics, especially the central locking. The fusebox is on the passenger side over the wheel arch..

Although I don't know the solution I have seen the problem mentioned a lot on here in the short amount of time I've spent there:
http://www.focusstoc.com/forums

EDIT: Think the reason I don't know the solution is due to it being in a members only forum I can't view. Our ST3 is my wife's car so I'm refusing to pay biggrin

get a large can of wd40, spray a shed load of it in the fusebox, and on every connection you can see.
while your at it, have a good look for a trapped wire. near the boot hinges is a common place for trapped wires.

We see similar faults at work, most are loose/poor multiearth connections.

The problems cause the battery to drain but it is fine before they start. Will definitely get them to check that though, thanks

Check the fuse box under the glove box the AC drips water into it causing the Circuit to corrode and makes all kinds of S**T mine used to go mental with no key in headlights alarm wipers everything used to go off, pull out all the connectors remove the full fuse box remove all the fuses and look for the token green corrosion on the connectors then remove the 2 screws on the back and clean the boards I dried it with a hair dryer then cleaned off with a old toothbrush then re solders some dubious looking joints and it worked fine

Please don't do this unless you want even more problems. WD40 may be a water dispersant but it still causes problems when people with no idea drown electrical components in it.

i've never had any problems. WD40 is an important part of my tool kit.
