RE: Spotted: Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion

I'm sorry, £1.5 million for a flat 6 turbo with 500 odd bhp? Not keen on the looks either sorry! And agree about the arches. It looks like an ebay toy copy of a porsche gone wrong.
I know it's an racer-copy but that's a lot of cash even for that. People who buy porsches never cease to amaze me.

I remember watching a video on how this car was made - it was the opening feature on a 1996 Duke VHS entitled "Supercars". IIRC it was a huge step forward for Porsche as their first ever watercooled car, and even the Porsche test driver said that comparing it to his 991 GT3 car was like comparing a horse to a donkey!
As long as you can't mount another seat on them, they're still considered sills
BTW, that Merc is incredible, but there is nothing like the original and that Porsche, in all it's nastiness is on my top 10 list for sure (I suspect it's now longer that 10, but I'm just hopeless). That it's impractical to sit in, to peer out of, to scrape your way out of a drive, to get an unexpected turbo kick when merging on the expressway, to struggle to get it registered (at least here in California) matters not at all. If you even mutter any of those concerns, then you are just not passionate about cars.
I had the good fortune of slipping in to the back of the Porsche museum some years ago and they opened up one of their mid-90's LeMans competition cars for me and dang, it was impossibly impossible to get seated, get fastened, to reach for the controls and to (imagine) shift and drive and? IT WAS SIMPLY INCREDIBLE!!!
And since I'm used to driving my Ultima GTR, it looks kinda comfy!

Expensive alternative to a much better car which it seems to be trying to copy (given the limited styling ability of Porky designers), the Maserati MC12
Well this was a stupid comment.Cheers
