This one? Sorry, first link not working.

Personally, I'd have a look. If it was rebuilt well, preferably by the works department then it could be a bargain. Bear in mind also the demand for these in the rest of the world; once exported, it's no longer a Cat C.

Realistically, it's the perfect car to sit next to your Morgan. You should purchase it.
Is that true? Would a potential buyer not just do checks on the car in the country it's coming from?

I've decided that I don't need a loft conversion after all - a nice suite of rooms with a freestanding bath and terrace are less important than another silly car, at this point in my life. But I may have to sell in two years - and don't want to tale a depreciation/repair costs bath!
[boringsensiblepostmode]pay £50k for fancy loft conversion and refurb sell property for £100k more spend the profit on a motor[/boringsensiblepostmode]

Shame. I love them, but probably can't tie up £60k in a car for 10 years, and I guess the total loss thing will make it hard to turn around quickly if required.

Situation is I have £50-60k to go on a car (hard budget). I could increase to finance a 90-100k one and get rid of my Aero 8, but in reality, something as depreciation proof as possible for a max of £60k would be best to complement the current fleet: for the finance costs, I can continue to insure and service the Morgan, which seems more sensible than spending £400 a month on the finance of one supercar - better two interesting and different vehicles that won't shed too much money in depreciation.

I had formerly decided on a 360 Spider (and that is still in play, as is the hardtop Modena - testing another Spider tomorrow), but as I now intend to keep my Morgan, so very different cars welcome - hardtops, autos etc. GTs and sports cars - no saloons/estates. 1990s is as early as I want to go, as don't want something horribly maintenance heavy that will rot before my eyes (Runnymede also have a lovely looking 1973 AMV8, but I think leaving it standing for weeks on end will kill it, so can't just go and buy it!)

Not keen on the modern V8 Vantage, Gallardo running costs are a bit too bonkers (I think/assume?). Good F430s are still £70k+

Simon Furlonger also have this, which is floating my boat. Saw it when testing a 360 there - it's lovely. Vantage looks, V8 noise - but not Vantage pace or (running costs). Anyone have any idea if these will appreciate? Gut says yes, but that's not enough to go on - they only made 99 and there are precious few for sale!

Spend some time in them before you commit - despite looking / being awesome, old v8's are properly ste - don't go, don't stop, thirsty, Etc etc. The 80's uber vantage is great for a bit, but very barge-y. Also remember that aston tax prevails - and e.g changing the plugs is a manifold off killer of a job.
If i had the funds you're talking abou, it'd have to be italian, or modern if you're into the driving side. If you like having cool metal / pub presence, a v8 asron is still hard to beat smile

OK, Defender Feedback.

I am shocked by this car. I expected something completely different. Yes, it's crude compared to a modern 4x4 or executive car - but it's not like any other Land Rover I have been in. Soundproofed, high ratio gearbox and engine/turbo/intercooler modification means that this thing will happily cruise at 90 all day long (and in fact did, on the trip back from its last owner in the Cotswolds). Fuel economy is poor (mid twenties), but not catastrophic, and the amount of money clearly spent on it is ludicrous (a total of a smidgen under £30k over the last 5 years). The last owner basically had it rebuilt from the ground up. It even has a new car smell (he had it completely retrimmed in black wilton and leather, and four Sparco seats replaced all the originals), not a spot of corrosion anywhere, everything tight, no rattles, slack or squeaks, perfect paintwork. And the £5k custom installed hi-fi/sat nav/TV system is just ridiculous. Full closure Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser with remote central locking etc etc.

Only thing I can find wrong (literally) is that the remote bonnet catch doesn't work properly: needs adjusting.

He sold it as he'll be getting a full spec long wheelbase one custom built by Twisted. Very nice chap, clearly an enthusiast.

I've just got an absolute bargain. And I love it already - brilliant car, if completely pointless for anything I do except for shooting and perhaps driving to the continent for a ski holiday or two.

Love them all, although people probably look confused when the Morgan pulls up and it's not Cruella de Vil driving biggrin

But... why does the Landy have a TdCi bonnet?

So true on the Morgan - it looks ridiculous!

Aftermarket mod when the car was rebuilt last December - it was originally black and had a flat Td5 bonnet. Cosmetic I guess, unless it helps with cooling? Bill for its fitment by Nene Overland is in the file...

thumbup It does make it look new. Whether that's a good thing is a question of taste wink

You have scratchchin, not the perfect garage, but a perfect garage.

ETA I feel a new thread coming on...

Great little fleet of cars; the Morgan is one of my all-time favourites.

Not many - but a couple here. Workmanship is superb - far, far better than factory!

Very cool.

Love the idea of a Defender with high(er) ratio gearbox and better soundproofing.
