Some very sanctimonious posters on this thread who should be on the "brake" website ffs! We've all done silly things when young, christ knows how I got away with (most) of it.

Op just get a cancellation and new license asap; and prepare for your wallet to be emptied by insurance companies for a few years.

Guessing my dose of reality at the early hours may have come across a bit blunt and not what the OP was looking for however yes we were all young once but not everyone on here grew up in a time before god so have grown up with the explosion of ANPR cameras, over zelous bridge cops and the alike and have managed to stay clean.

Genuinely therefore my advise is driving isn't worth 5- 10k a year in insurance ( if that's the insurance pen for 9 points) and the OP should if possible give it some time and jump on a bike powered or otherwise.

Exactly, I seem to remember getting two lots of three points within around two years of passing my test back in the seventies, I don't even think it slowed me down much but luckily I got away with most of it, didn't kill any babies and lived to post here.

Funny things Car Forums , seem to be full of people that never speed, drive badly or really get into any difficulties, probably don't use their cars, they just spend all their time detailing it on the drive whilst dreaming of their next cash purchase (loans or finance nasty mucky things) , afterwards they will watch a Doris Day film whilst posting on pistonheads, the computer will be in the attic so they really get the feeling they are looking down on the rest of us.

P.S clean license for 15 or so years now.

This is my thinking .... the OP has done wrong, been caught doing wrong, has learnt that doing wrong comes with consequences (I am now sounding like SUPERNANNY!!) and the next step is to find out how not to do wrong in the future but that last bit has me concerned because the OP has not tackled that issue with us on here

Perhaps they already have that sorted?

No concelation now but you should have asked for an spd (short period disqualification) I had a very similar set of circumstances, caught doing 60ish in a 40 at 1 am shortly after passing my test and then 37 in a 30 3months before the end of my probation period and recieved a 30day disqualification, the magistrate said he'd never had anyone ask to be banned before. Getting your licence revoked so close to the 2years is unlucky but with 9points in a matter of months it looks like you were heading this way anyway have you changed car or passed your bike test recently? just apply again and keep a better eye out for cameras/coppers next time. I'm assuming we're talking speeding or something else minor here and not dangerous driving or suchlike but if it is the latter i'd look at my driving if i were you they aren't easily proven from what i gather so you must have been silly.

Hold on, you can get your license back more or less straight away after it being revoked by just taking another test, how many times can you do this? Can he go get his license back, get it revoked again for doing 150mph, then just go get it again and again? I want to be young again if thats the case smile

Yes but once you get your license back you now have a fresh license that already has points on it. You won't love what insures would tell you when you get a quote of them.
Live & learn.

also worth noting that (depending on the offence of course) while you might be able to get it cleared from your license in 3years, under rehabilitation of offenders act you will still have to declare it for a further 2years.

So TC will have 5years of having to declare it to insurers and face a higher premium, despite having a clean license for the last 2.

Its not just a case of taking the practical test again - the theory test must also be retaken and passed

From my very limited knowledge I think the points stay on a new licence but they do not count towards the new 12 point allowance for totting up

I stand to be corrected

Points stay and behave exactly as normal points do, i.e. 12 mean a ban.

So if the new driver got 12 points in one go which is possible then they might as well not retake the tests for 3 years!!??

I do not think it works that way

Isn't the practical test that you take post-revocation an extended practical as well?

I think that is only after a disqualification not a revoke

My advice is give up the driving thing for a while then learn to read so you can undestand those informative signs that give you a heads up of the speed limit and also those rules which basically say don't be a nob on the uk roads by following these rules.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Back in the day you rarely saw anyone post st like this, if at all.

In that case a ban still applies if you managed to get 12 points very quickly.
