The DVLA revocation is not something done by the courts. It is not the court who revoke your licence.

If in the first 2 years you accumulate 6 points from the courts or fixed penalty notices, they will stay on your licence for 4 years (and remain active for 3). The DVLA will notice you've hit 6 points and send you a letter telling you your licence is going to be revoked.

If within 3 years you get another 6 points on top of your first 6, you will have 12 points on your licence. At that point you will be disqualified by the court under the totting up procedure, for a minimum of 6 months (more if you have been disqualified at all within the preceding 3 years). Your licence will be returned clean of points at the end of the disqualification period. You can avoid a disqualification under totting up by pleading 'exceptional hardship' or other mitigating reasons, though if you manage this your licence will keep all the points present on it and if you offend again within a 3 year period you could not use the same exceptional hardship reasons as you used previously.

Isn't the practical test that you take post-revocation an extended practical as well?
I think that is only after a disqualification not a revoke
indeed. once its revoked its like you never had a license before, you everything all over again. (provisional, theory, practical). but you do not take the extended driving test.

My advice is give up the driving thing for a while then learn to read so you can undestand those informative signs that give you a heads up of the speed limit and also those rules which basically say don't be a nob on the uk roads by following these rules.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Back in the day you rarely saw anyone post st like this, if at all.
I'm sorry should I have said chin up son, it's all someone else's fault!

I havent been here all that long but going back 4 years other than the change in the pie and piston culture I've not seen people's view on being such a nob as to be caught and near as possible get banned change.

Other than getting your re tests booked asap and don't do whatever you did to get yourself in this position what else can we say??

Anyway im off for a drive in the Scottish roads for a blast then driving down on cruise control down south for the week.

The court can disqualify for any endorsable offence. The court can also order that you must remain disqualified until a test is passed for any endorsable offence (though this discretion is only likely where the evidence suggests the offending is related to inexperience or incompetence or that the length of any disqualification will mean the offender will be spending considerable time off the road.

Where the disqualification is discretionary and a retest is ordered, it will be a standard test. Where the disqualification is mandatory, such as under totting up or for Dangerous Driving, the retest will be a extended one.

Don't exceed 60 now! And yes, you are a tt for rubbing it in, I'm absolutely sure he regrets it already.

Tbh i'm sure most pistonheaders could be banned several times over every year if enforcement was better, so many hipocrits on this site.

Not just most PHers, I'd go as far as to say most young drivers (although not me of course, because I'm perfect.....) The only difference between the OP and a lot of my friends is that he's been caught and they haven't.

Or more to the point, if there weren't so many idiots on the road the rest of us wouldn't have to put up with speed cameras everywhere.

Many are idiotic and well under the speed limits so that is not the reason for speed cams

Speed cams are there because drivers either choose not to or are incapable of glancing at their speedos every few seconds like they proved they could do on their training and basic L test

I had mine revoked, no time period, just send documents back and reapply.
Does that then mean I have to do the extended test which is double the price , or is it just the normal one as I ain't actually banned just revoked

It of course went to court (which I was unable to attend due to being away with work in Japan). I wrote a letter explaining the situation, and stressing that I needed the car for work and could I please, please take 5pts and a large fine.

Result was 6pts and £125 fine. Absolute f*ckers.

It left a very, very sour taste in the mouth and tainted my opinion of the Police and judicial system for a long, long time.

The only time that anyone I know has come into contact with the police or judiciary, it seems to be related to traffic offences. Unless of course it's criminal damage against a vehicle, and then they're not interested. It doesn't exactly make me want to stand up and object when I hear about cut backs in police funding and numbers, just hope that limiting resources forces them to concentrate on serious crime rather than milking motorists.

And no, I've not been done personally; not so much as a parking ticket since I passed my test over 20 years ago.
