I prefer this one
I was out on a quite empty road for a nice evening drive. The top down, breeze blowing through my hair, and I decided to open her up. As the needle went over 140 MPH, I suddenly saw flashing red and blue lights behind me.
"There's no way they can catch my ALPINA," I thought to myself and opened her up further. The needle hit 150, 160.... then the reality of the situation hit me. "What am I doing?" I thought and pulled over.
The copper came up to me, took my license without a word, and examined it and the car. "It's been a long day, this is the end of my shift, and it's Friday. I don't feel like more paperwork, so if you can give me an excuse for your driving that I haven't heard before, you can go."
I thought for a second and said, "Last week my wife ran off with a cop. I was afraid you were trying to give her back."
"Have a nice weekend," said the officer.

Interesting that 'Timmy' posted that in 2006, and by coincidence edited it today, approx 6 years later, with "brm"...!johnnyBv8 said:

Now, the point is that your Traffic Policeman was trained using a manual called "Roadcraft".Edited by Timotei on Monday 13th August 15:36
Anyone can buy a copy and have training using its contents.
If all on the roads were required to do so, there'd be hardly any Cavaliers in the rear of artics.
It really is that simple.
Why the edit btw? You not want to stand by the topic you started?

these kinda threads are my favourite
They are interesting aren't they, sometimes I wonder if there are folks paid, or, perhaps, from a pressure group, directed to forums to post, to try to counter the prevailing ethos of that forum.Interesting how the influence of the Internet is now seen to be of importance in influencing opinions and attitudes.
