I have images in my head of the OP, white as a ghost doing 70mph, in the middle lane watching cars having to overtake him/her doing more than 70, the OP shaking their head and mumbling 'too fast, too fast' while a trickle of sweat runs down their forehead.

Sounds like a story in one of the women mags.
Timotei's not a bad shampoo. Says my butler, of course I don't use that £2 stuff.

I'm not so sure whether I should be thankful that the OP was quoted before it was removed, or not. Timotei doesn't like full stops too much, it seems.

Are there any traffic cops on here who regularly carry photographs of dead motorists in their cars? Bull, and st.

The speed indicator climbs to 96, then finally 97, and thankfully, mercifully, goes no further. ... Copper #1 stops the replay, gets out and stands next to me before I can do so. He says to me matter-of-factly;
"Too fast".

I open my eyes, amazed to still be alive, and say all-too-eagerly;
"An education? What's that?"
"I show you a couple of pictures, tell you about the dangers of speeding, and let you on your way"
The relief that washes over me is overwhelming.
"I'll take the education option" I say hurriedly,
About the time you were absent-mindedly doing 97 on an A road in rush hour traffic (assuming it was in 2006, based on the identical post elsewhere) I was stopped for doing 91 on a totally clear 3-lane section of the M1 on a clear, dry, mild summer evening at about half eight.

I was polite and helpful when I was pulled over, and the policeman (honestly) commented that my lance discipline was excellent (ok, it wasn't totally clear, there were three other cars, two in the middle lane for no reason and one on the inside) and I was going slower than you, in more favourable conditions. I didn't get the choice of looking at some grisly pictures. £60/3 points and on your way for me.

The system doesn't seem especially fair to me.

Very brave to get into that, the last thing you want is to take one of those to the helmet.
