I've had mine @ the limiter in top. Thats 23.94mph per 1000rpm, limiter is 6300rpm
Mmmm, do I remember that day, not so long ago? DaveL485 said:
Considering though it's now sporting a Standalone ECU and the new lump is designed for 7500rpm, that may improve.
On private roads of course.
I don't doubt it Dave, do I need to tweak my motor now to keep up?! On private roads of course.
I had a G reg phase 2 R21 Turbo. Great Q car, didn't look that overtly fast, but certianly went well enough.
What a great car, went very quickly, but was very refined. As for max speed attained, lot's will suffix for public forum, but it was very stable with it.
Reliability..... It never stopped but plenty went wrong.
Always hankered after a Cossie, but insurance was silly on those.

mitsubishi 2000 turbo ex from that era would give it a run

Have you ever owned or driven one? Then you haven't lived if you think it's a Montego with a bodykit. For a start, aside from the ubiquitous Cossie, nothing could touch it on-boost back then. Secondly, it felt like a very comfortable and nice place to sit. Thirdly, it handled. Fourthly, yellow foglights were cool in the 90s.

The Lancer was a bit before the 21T but it was quick mid-range although the 21T had a lot more top endThe Donster said:

And the thread is back from the dead, only because the exact car is back for sale, interestingly at a higher price.
Still looks good (To me), if I can sell my Disco before it goes, think I'll be making the long trip for it.

Holy thread resurrection Batman.
Still here. Still got it. Still boosting :-) don't forget about the old French turbo buses!
Still looking good Dave! I never did end up getting a 21 turbo, the values of good ones and the lack of them available kaiboshed that. Still have a soft spot for them and if I ever get the chance to have a second car I'll be keen to scratch that itch.Still here. Still got it. Love these things... including the OEM rear spoiler which looks suspiciously like every other generic spoiler your see bolted to all manner of crap these days. last one of these I saw in the flesh was a sort of Raider blue one (maybe it was Raider blue?) and it was sat in the scrap yard in Bonnybridge... had full leather and the original turbofan style wheels. This was years ago, always regret not asking what lay in store for it.
Second thread resurrection today.... i'm afraid you won't be seeing H599 out on the roads for a bit...
Some pics as to why its in bits on this thread! https://turborenault.co.uk/threads/the-scrapyard-q...

I had an R21 Turbo Phase 2 for a few years until 1996. What a great car. Styling didn't make it stand out too much, especially in the grey colour.
A very rapid car in its day, had some great drives in it. Got left for dead by a few boosted Cosworths but most other things on the road wouldn't keep up. Handling was precise and predictable.
It was boost limited in 1st gear which did a great job of assisting off the line traction in the days before traction control, but in the wet when you got full boost in 2nd gear you soon discovered the wheelspin.
Made my all-time max speed on a road in a country far far away at 137mph on the speedo, before I decided it was time to brake for the approaching corner.... It was still nice and stable at that speed as well.
Great car. Fair play to anyone keeping one going after all these years.
