Have you ever owned or driven one? Then you haven't lived if you think it's a Montego with a bodykit. For a start, aside from the ubiquitous Cossie, nothing could touch it on-boost back then. Secondly, it felt like a very comfortable and nice place to sit. Thirdly, it handled. Fourthly, yellow foglights were cool in the 90s.
No I was just commenting on the exterior styling, to me it looks like a Montego, which was hardly avantgarde back then, I'd say turbo SAAB 900 from that era handled better with their double wishbone front suspension. I still think yellow foglights are cool.Seriously considered to buy a Renault 21 Turbo but ended up in a BMW E30 (yeah... sorry it was a 318).
Especially after video's like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWHwmPu0Qa0&fea...
At this moment there is one for sale in the netherlands for € 2.250,- (http://link.marktplaats.nl/574717631)

Great find! Never had a shot in a Turbo but the Savanna's did sterling service as big family haulers, or, in our case a band crew bus. That had terminal lift off oversteer which may, if the electrics didn't get it first, explain the lack of metal. Lift off oversteer eventually took Forged's crew bus. Did like that oil level on start up feature though. Bet that price is negotiable for a passenger seat blat in the 599. That would make a good episode of Driven. "Ah yes, that is my 599. No, not the HGTE, but about the 21 Turbo..."

I was just thinking the same He's not at his desk at the moment, I'll give him a nudge when he's back and he can tell us all about his Renault 21 turbo obsession He bought a red phase 1 into work last week, for me the stand out feature was the taxi-cab spec leather interior
I had a black R21 Turbo back in the late 80s/early '90s. Black, and I ordered it with the cloth interior, rarely seen. A great car in which I did around 90,000 miles in three years. Wonderful turbo lag and noise. F154 DWW where are you now? I replaced it with a Vauxhall Carlton 3000 GSI, fire engine red, another great car.

Not the same but...
Back in the day went with my dad to the Renault dealer in Mansfield where he had a test drive in a Renault 18 Turbo.
Boost gauge and lots of things that Fords of the era didn't have (was it really only 125bhp and 133lb/ft torque?)
My dad was still running his 3.0 Consul GT at the time. Seemed like the difference between a Supermarine Spitfire and The Millenium Falcon.
Also had a ride in a 21 Turbo; very quick, very different to my (then) Cosworth but felt like it was built out if bip and snot and used cardboard....

Turbo Quadras were fkin fast, and are fast even with today standards.
Vastly under-rated machines, quite ridiculous capability when you give it some stick.356Speedster said:

"Understated" is the word you're after. Taxi spec....tsk!I won't say much because everyone knows i'm horribly biased , but i've always owned at least one since my first in mid-1997. 2wd is comedy torque steer central, 4wd is street sleeper of the century.
Possibly the most under-rated car ever built

I'd say that an MG Maestro turbo could touch it on-boost and its from the same year... They also handle really well for a big hatchAlso, this one is for sale right now (not by me): PM me for info.

Friend of mine had his first carnal experience (with his now Mrs) in one of these. He mentioned the other day he would love to get another, but assumed they had all rusted away.
French cars back then were bonkers, weren't they ?
Harris will be lusting after a Fuego turbo next. Now that is a rare car.
