Or it could be done after the car is registered.

Here's a fun fact about confidence lifts. During the V10 era, on the McLaren (and, I assume other) Formula One cars, if you backed out when you're at 100% throttle, the computer won't actually 'lift' until you're below 90%. Give you the confidence without the lift, and basically stops you being a pussy.
Good fact! I assume this was to prevent unintentional lifting when hitting bumps?

Love the black section on the tail - it makes the back end look so much taughter and more exo-skeletal. I know they did the HS version like that, so presumably anyone buying the standard car could have it done like that if they asked.

If you haven't already I urge you to click on the video link too - epic! Not the best view of the track but it's compensated for by the noise and view of the throttle linkage working away. No hiding the odd 'confidence lift' with that camera view either! "I *was* flat through there, honest!" and all that.
God that was good. If only all race cars sounded like that. Fabulous.

Yeah, I imagine that was the main reason, with the happy side effect of eliminating pure confidence lifts.

Oh Dear!

Like the Can Am version, should have come out as the road car with a lower spoiler. That would have brought on the supercar emotitons, I like the std car but its a bit bland...

Whoever told you that was having you on! Since the advent of fly-by-wire throttles in the 80s there's been a reg stating "The maximum delay allowed between the accelerator pedal position input signal and the corresponding output demand being achieved is 50ms."

I don't know why people are saying it should be NA if it's a Can-Am inspired car - the ultimate Can-Am car was the Porsche 917/30, which had a turbo flat 12 making 1600bhp during quali and 1100bhp in the races!

blah slobber blah

And they've still managed to ruin the look in the details. It's got an "I'm not sure if that's funny but going to smile anyway" expression.

I am too young to have seen any of the original Can Am series, but I do remember Thundersports where there were quite a few M8's and Lola T70's etc racing. Nothing comes close to the sound and sensations these cars provided, probably why I always feel completely underwhelmed by modern F1.

fk the turbo's they should of whacked a big banging v8 in the back 800+ horse power with trumpets, now that would be a can am edition

does look good, just needs trumpets squarer rear end with low down huge pipes and it would be perfect cloud9

eta: it needs trumpets FACT

It may be true of F1 cars, but we've been running some pretty interesting throttle maps in sportscars for years - even more extreme than the 90% referred to above.

It's amazing what you can get away with when the regs are fuzzy....the Formula Student car I was involved with some years ago ran a Motec M800 with some really interesting interpretations of what a throttle map should be!

Vastly disappointed not to see any trumpets sticking out.

My school boy hero cars! Staggering chest pounding sound track to these cars, saw them at Brands Hatch back in the day and you could hear/feel them all the way round! Remarkable...
