What a daft comment. It's amasing the number of people in nice cars I see who are not acting like a cock. I see people driving around in their Porsches, Ferarris, Lambos and Bently's all the time (this being Cheshire) and none of them stand out in any way other than the car they drive.

The cockery is purely an artefact of the observer's prejudice/jealousy most of the time.
Unless said person is being a cock...

Just read this thread in utter astonishment.

The very reason we're all on here is a common passion for all things automotive. To share knowledge, pictures, stories and woe. As THE biggest and most prolific site of it's kind in Europe, it saddens me to witness the mentality of a large number of contributers who feel the need to belittle and criticise what is, to all intents and purposes, a perfectly relevant and entertaining post.

As the OP mentioned, the attitudes of an unfortunately growing number of members is the reason he takes regular breaks from PH. With mob mentality such as this, I can't say I blame him. I personally know of several individuals who have done the same for this very reason.

Every now and again, there's some chancer on trolling who deserves everything he gets and, as I'm sure we'll all agree, PH wouldn't be the same without the entertainment they provide. This is clearly not one of those posts.

Not sure if it's jealousy or the fact it's the school holidays. Either way, it doesn't adhere to the ethos of the institution that is PH.

Please let us not lose sight of the companionship and camaraderie that made this site great.

Although I agree with the OP, that we don't need these "little Hitlers" throwing their weight around, I do sometimes wish we had some parking attendants in Oz, to police these things.

I am disabled. I could not walk much more than a hundred yards to save my life. I have to attend a large city hospital every 2 or 3 months for specialists appointments. On a number of occasions, after driving 60KM I have had to leave & come home, as the disabled car park is full, often with cars without disabled stickers.

This is annoying, as other parking is often a quarter of a mile away. Even if not disabled a quarter of a mile walk for someone requiring hospital treatment is too much for many.

I can understand the OPs problem with his type of vehicle.

As I often can't bend to get into or out of an ordinary car, I drive convertibles. I often get dirty looks from passers by, when I park the TR8, or the S2000 in a disabled bay. That is until they see my sticker, or how much trouble I have walking.

I do live in fear that someone will key one of my cars, thinking I am a wker parking in those bays.

OP, you have forgotten you live in the UK, home of tallest poppy syndrome & petty jealousy and zero personal responsibility.

People cannot abide others doing well, or admit to making a mistake, don't forget NOTHING is ever the fault of the person who fked up.

By the simple fact you own a Porsche, you are automatically a stuck up rich self satisfied prick wink , and obviously need to be brought down a peg or two!
Absolute crap! biggrin

There is post after post on here from people with cars as nice, or even nicer, than the OP's Porsche 911. And do they get the piss taken out of them for it? No.

NO ONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH HIM OWNING A PORSCHE! shout

It's the whole convincing himself that the world is jealous of him, and it, to the point of actually going out of his way ( "I got in and backed my car up all the way round and leant out of the window and said" ) to point out to the traffic warden what an expensive car he had, and accuse said traffic warden of being jealous. biggrin

Oh, and then drive home and inform the Internet what a cool dude he was for "sticking it to the man".

And then getting upset when people point out that actually, it was a bit of a prattish thing to do. biggrin

ZZZZzzzz...eh? Upset? Not like you seem to be old bean.

Can we leave this now? Sorry if I came across as a prat, just trying to amuse. Sorry if it upset soooo many people, none of whom are at all Porsche owner bashing, I realise. I also accept that everyone was sweet and kind natured in their posts.

Right, off to Sainsburys. This time I'll take the Range Rover and park in a parent and kids space. That'll learn 'em.

WARNING: Reasoned debate with evidence coming up. Seasoned PH'ers look away now.

Given that it has obviously made a difference here that I drive a Porsche (at least 3 comments around 'typical arrogant Porsche driver' or similar), then why should she be different?

Come on, be honest - if I was a CP attendant, I'd be much happier sticking a ticket on some twunt in a Ferrari/Porsche/Aston/Whatever who'd parked in a disabled spot that just some youth in a 15 year old Corsa.

For you to suggest otherwise is a bit unrealistic and frankly naive. But hey, don't let that stop you.

Just think how much easier it would have been for the parking womble to say "oops sorry my mistake, silly me".... But that will never happen as a) they were probably too thick to realize they were wrong, & b) Admitting they had made a mistake would require them to lose face....

Just let it float over your head & enjoy the Porch smile
