I was never really into playing video games. my younger Brother was though, and I remember being up late one evening and deciding to have play around with his GT game (the first one)......
Discovered the 'Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V GSR' it was silver and I did a little 'light' modifying. Put it on some time trial track and got completely addicted to the unique way it handled and gripped. putting a good solid couple of hours into eeking out the very best lap time i could.
Forward a couple of years and after experiencing the worst customer service i have ever experienced at a certain East Sussex BMW specialist, I happened to be driving past the local Mitsubishi Dealership - And there, on display was a Silver EVO V GSR. Freshly imported and sold with a full Red Zebra Warranty I had to have it.
I tuned it to pretty much the exact same spec as that virtual car I spend the night hooning around in, and immediately recalled that unique way it gripped and handled.

i should probably pick up a copy of GT5, guessing they're down to a fiver now on ebay wasn't particularly enamoured with the prologue but there's been no racing game on the ps3 that i've loved. i don't really enjoy the format of the GT series, would rather just have a few cars and go racing, spent so much of my youth playing the original sega rally on my dreamcast!!
is GT6 even being considered (and if so, will it be for the PS3 or the next gen console)

I think some people are a little too rash in judging the realism of GT5 vs Forza. The earlier incarnations of GT struggled a little, but play GT5 with a decent steering wheel/pedal set-up (e.g. Logitech G27) and it really comes alive - the detail in the feedback through the wheel is incredible, and totally missed when using a normal controller. Certainly a world better than the shoddy set-up at the Porsche Sunday Service, although that was probably down to poor calibration (e.g off-centre steering, brakes didn't come on until 2/3 travel) I agree it's better on Xbox with the controller compared to the PS3 one. And for reference, this is comparing to GTR2, which is a proper sim IMO.
Do love to play GT5 with my G25, handling is great and the game has gone through a lot of improvements since its release that if you haven't played it for a while its worth popping back in.I think they need to make a mix of all the games, taking the best bits from each and putting it into one. Rather than having a good feature on one then removing that feature for the next version, its so annoying. I think the used car feature was best in GT2, an obviously prefer the better graphics of 5. I love GT but my main fustration with it is, and always has been, why are the engine sounds sooooooooo crap? Need for speed usually manages to have some decent sounds so why not GT????

A thought - how about a Gran Turismo equivalent for motorbikes?
There are so many bikes out there, both past and present, so many circuits from the Isle of Man TT and Northwest 200 to the Superbikes and MotorGP circuits, scrambler rallies, the Dakar, the X-games and so on.
It'd be great to see a Gran Turismo for bikers.
Polyphony Digital did make a bike game using the same engine etc. as GT. Wasn't a big success as I recall. There are so many bikes out there, both past and present, so many circuits from the Isle of Man TT and Northwest 200 to the Superbikes and MotorGP circuits, scrambler rallies, the Dakar, the X-games and so on.

I still play it.
If it wasn't for the picture uploading thing not working I'd put some up...
It didn't sell well, largely due to no advertising (afforementioned Bike mag review was the only one I've seen) and bikes being a fairly limited market.
Although, importing the whole of TT onto GT5 would be good.
