As standard I agree with Chris Harris's comments. However, the Z4M can be transformed with an I2K suspension kit from Intrax in Holland, and a Turner Motorsport rear suspension bush limiting kit. Believe it or not but mine also rides better on the genuine 19" CSL wheels I fitted together with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. There is also a nasty clutch delay valve that should be removed and will improve town driving as well as full bore starts. I have AC Schnitzer exhaust but wished I had bought something a little louder! My next mod will be some stiffer anti-roll bars. But the car is already really really great. It still needs care, especially over bumps in the wet, but it looks brilliant and there is nothing close for the money. A TVR Tuscan made by the Germans!
I agree the 19" (i fitted e92 m3 'edition' wheels) with good tyres makes a hell of a difference - i think the extra width on the front transforms the car!

As for exhaust - i had the supersprint 'race system' it sounded great!

i actually still ahve the exhaust, must remember to sell it!

Good call Chris on the German Sagaris. That absolutely nailed it but you're wrong on the looks.

It was the best 'proportioned' coupe on sale. Long bonnet, small cabin over the rear wheels, wide and low with a little bit of the 'womens hips' Porsche always used to aspire to in their designs.

I design lines painted over that shape are a matter of personal opinion but I think the shape is beyond reproach.

Not driven either but the Z4 Coupe is one of the best looking coupes of recent years, the breadvan one of the ugliest ever. I do not get the appeal of the Z3 at all.

He was completely wrong comparing it to the Sagaris. The Sag is in a different league batting an all round average this thing cant hope to get close to.

I agree with this as I had read that the Z4M was a German TVR & I sold my Cerbera & got a Z4M & the only similarities I found was they both had an engine in the front & were both RWD...nothing else was anywhere near the same & they couldn't be further apart from each other in reality.

Well i'll make my own mind up, given how personal car tastes are. Sure it is not the last word in sophistication and to some has faults, but to others charms. Me i am loving mine…….but investigating the exhaust options, that Supersprint system still for sale?

Yes I agree moose against those two other examples you mention the Z4M would be the most raw drive that's for sure.

Shame this is only a concept - it really would be a German Sagaris!

Almost a year in to owning a Z4m coupe and 3 or 4 months in I would have mostly agreed with all of the comments. I actually thought I'd made a mistake buying it. With more and more seat time comes confidence in the jittery suspension though and you start to relish trying to drive it fast and smoothly. The more you push it the more you realise it will hang on much longer than you initially expect especially with the right rubber. An easy car to drive no, but it gets under the skin and fully rewards on the right road in spades. I had an e46 m3 for a couple of years and it was a great car too, probably as quick as the Z4 but it just didn't feel as special or as raw. Stuck in traffic on a pot holed road and I'd take my e90 330d auto every day of the week over either!

I have the 3.0si Coupe and firstly, I think it looks great in ruby black metallic. I get a LOT of positive feedback on the looks too!

The main problem with the M for me is that the battery steals a lot of the boot space.

Still, I love mine and no artcile written based on the memory of a drive some 6 years ago is going to stop me enjoying it smile
Some years later, thank you for that!

Last year I bought a 56 plate Si Coupe in Ruby Black, 1 of only 54 non-M Coupes in that colour registered in the UK based upon the database that Taz on Z4 Forum has and it generally seems to start a conversation at PH meetings. I like to think of it as the substitute for the E-Type I always lusted after but will never afford due to EuroMillions issues (like not winning!)

To be fair I have not read the whole thread (given that it is over 20 pages) but I can't help thinking the 3-litre may be better than the M - Autocar and Harry C from Evo seemed to think so!

And to Mr Harris, I really admire your style but Z3M better looking than Z4M - were you wearing beer glasses?

Yet another thread revival - interestingly all the negative comments on here are from short term owners or test drivers. The Z4M is an extremely rare sort of car now in that you have to get to know it before you can drive it well. It's not easy, and takes quite a bit of time and effort, but I'm fairly sure it's a better car for it.

4 and a half years later, having Googled 'Pistonheads and Z4 Coupe' you post a photo of your car hoping to get appreciative replies saying how good it looks etc.

Embarrassing.

I still like reading the Z4M reviews, views and fan boy comments. But Yeah, I love posting pictures of my weekend toy, especially when I get reactions like yours makes it worth it. Especially as you are a previous an 3.0si owner. As C19 has put a stop to celebrating New Years Eve, I'll just troll you instead....
