Less friction on the road surface because of the reduced weight. Though not sure how far that actually goes.

Indeed, but only has a tiny difference. Certainly not this kind of difference. Either its way more aerodynamic, the old one did a lot more than 155, or there talking bks.

I have a 4.4 currently so going down to a 3.0 wasn't appealing. Even then I'm not sure of the appeal of the 3.0, it's not that much more economical and the 4.4 is so good it's a hard act to compete against. Sure, the 3.0 has stop start but my experience of that in other cars is that it's pretty hateful.
The V8 definitely has the engine noise in its favour, and the real world fuel economy is very impressive. The appeal of the 3.0 will be focused around it's lower homologated CO2, with correspondingly lower UK VED and BIK rate.

I Love my old Range Rover and the bluff bront end is a big point of the car, echoing a post further back in this thread if I had the money to afford one I think it would have to go to the coachbuilders and have the front end uprighted a bit. Having said that I would give my left knacker for one of these, but it would have to be the supercharged in green without stupid big fussy wheels, oh and it will have mudflaps all round and a farmer towbar. A proper Range Rover.

I hope those tossers at the LR design studio drown in their frothy cappuccino, they've successfully turned RR's into a blinged up tt wagon.
Going to trade in your 22 year old Golf for one were you?

I think the "tossers at the LR design studio" can probaly sleep well without worrying what you think. wink
So, because I can't afford one, I am not allowed to pass judgement on how I think this model looks?

Ever so sorry, I must have missed the part in the article that states only people who can afford to buy one are allowed to make a comment.
Making a comment is one thing. Insulting both the designers and the buyers in the process is another.

As with the Evoque, the styling isn't quite to my taste (I'm sure the stylists will be devastated at this news). The engineering on the other hand - oh yes. JLR's vehicles are now keeping thousands upon thousands of UK engineers, technicians, fabricators, tradesmen, newbie graduates (not to mention all the other support roles) in decent highly skilled work. And for every directly employed person, there are thought to be ten or more jobs in supply industries. Anything that is going to keep a few thousand more scousers off the streets has to be a good thing wink

They could all be painted pink and be driven by footballers teenage wives for all I care. They will sell like hot cakes around the world, and give a lot of UK people a decent standard of living. Whatever you are doing JLR, keep doing it. We need more companies like you.

And yet another is being oversensitive and chucking your toys. If you like driving a blinged up tt wagon then people will think you're a tt.

Some think the RR is an ugly box on wheels that is bought by the husbands of blonde women and footballers who are used to shoving other people out of the way; I'm completely neutral and view RRs as just another tarted up jeep. I suppose if you're a farmer or someone who ventures off road to your daughters point to point then there's some justification in buying one.

I'm with unrepentant here. You don't go around calling people tossers for doing their job. People at LR are trying to sell the most cars by designing a car that people will love; so you don't call them tossers because you personally don't like it. Ever thought that they would maybe rather design a slightly more subdued car too? It's like traffic wardens, they are just doing a job given to them by someone else.

Every expensive and unobtainable (for the majority) car that is released always brings out the best in some PH posters.

Don't like it? Fine but rather than slagging off people and coming across like a jealous the worlds been unkind to me fool, simply explain why you don't like it.

I've never thought anyone was a tosser due to car they drive, blonde wifes? Grow up FFS!!!!

More toys discarded. Interesting.

I think some of you RR fanbwoys need a thicker skin..perhaps that's why you prefer an armoured vehicle on the road? smile

I like them for the practicality, the versatility, the ability to perform numerous roles, and the fact they offer a fantastic elevated seating position. The fact that they are large, relatively thirsty (until now it would seem) and invoke the wrath of imbeciles is merely a bonus.

I hadn't thought about it that way before.

Could t have said it better.

They will probably make more jobs available to cope with the demand like they did for the evoque.

Haha have a word with yourself.

Having said that you do confirm the RR fanbwoy stereotype nicely. smile

Not a fan of the styling but you cannot deny the engineering that has gone into it.

These revisions to the previous L332 would be most welcome. Or just make the new one look a little more reserved.

Indeed, and a stereotype I have no problems with whatsoever- certainly rather than being stereotyped into the group of mongs who use phrases like 'fanbwoy'!

There is something deeply pathetic about people who label those they don't agree with as a fanboy or fanboi but WTF is a fanbwoy? If you don't have anything constructive to say why say anything?

Here's a British company making fantastic products that are sought after all over the world. The RR has no peers, it's a brilliant car and this new one will move it even further forward. The new Evoque opened LR to a whole new group of customers and it's selling like hot cakes, moving buyers out of BMW's and Audi's and bringing jobs to the UK. The Jags are superb, again many first time customers are leaving the German brands to drive the XJ because it's so good and wows them when they try it and realise what great value it is compared to the competition.

This site used to be for real car enthusiasts who could appreciate great new cars and discuss them in an adult way. Now it seems to be being taken over by wannabees who use chavspeak and stupid insults to talk about cars they will never buy.

+1

I think the new JLR products are fantastic and models like the Evoque, new Range Rover and the F-Type will hopefully continue the trend.

I imagine they will make great new buys and even better used buys in a few years time.

I liked Range Rover's after driving a 4.4D and 5.0 supercharged one I liked them even more. They are great on long journeys, great around town (especially with speed humps) and great off road. As a result they are great all rounders and I can definitely see the appeal.
