I have to spec mine tomorrow. Can someone in the know please convince me why I should spec the 4.4V8 instead of the 3.0V6.
Ignoring the Dynamic Response option only available on the bogger engines
I think the 3.0v6 is probably the best buy, fast enough with good mpg.Ignoring the Dynamic Response option only available on the bogger engines

In my extensive experience of both yes.
V8 > straight 6 > V6
FWIW, I think V12 & V10 are merely 'different' to V8 - not better neccessarily. All IMHO.
S6>V8>V12>S5>V10>V6>S4V8 > straight 6 > V6

5 cylinder ahead of V10 purely because the Audi Quattro was far superior to the M5.
V6 only ahead of a 4 because of the 2.8 Capri.

Have to say there are some very nice sounding S4 engines though; Lotus Twincam/Ford BDA (which do not sound a million miles off a flat-out TVR AJP V8 IMHO) and there is some guy who keeps buzzing past the office in a Honda S200 with a sports zorst which sounds epic.
True. And infinitely more historically important ones than V6s. Ok. You've convinced me. V6 at the end and generally the least desirable engine type. Mostly because they are used in FWD st boxes and where manufacturers want to pretend they are V8s on the cheap.
