All that hard work into engineering a new model, trying to make it the best yet.

Then they put vents in the door.
Read again, bud.. "That's why the current car's side gills have become a graphic on the front door instead. "

Just a graphic s'all!hehe
I hope those tossers at the LR design studio drown in their frothy cappuccino, they've successfully turned RR's into a blinged up tt wagon.

I don't know what annoys me most- whether they are fake, or the fact they are placed in the door.

The fact that it is only 12kg heavier than a MINI Countryman is very impressive.

You could read into that that BMW have a lot to learn about weight saving, but that may be unfair due tothe relative prices and therefore ability to use more expensive materials. But it does means LR are doing a brilliant job which is very effective. Well done UK!

They're not meant to be vents or fake vents or anything. They're just creases or indents in the metal. It's a design feature to break up the rather long slab of metal. I think they're nice. I certainly don't look at them and think 'oh...fake fins....those lying bds!'

Leaves me completely cold. They had to redesign such and such offroad testing ground because the RR is so capable? Have a word, most of the tarts that drive these things won't get anywhere near a field unless it's the school sports day FFS.

Love this new car, and it's the only negative thing I have to say.. but I do kind of wish they kept the flat front. I know it's for aero / mpg / Cd reasons, but it just made it's predecessors look so much more aggressive.

It's not faster because it's lighter. Weight has very little to do with maximum speed. Acceleration - yes, maximum speed...no.

It is hitting high speeds because it is obviously very powerful. 180mph in a vehicle with as large a frontal area as this takes a lot of stonk.

They make a bit more sense on a dark car - it looks a bit wrong having them body coloured.

I suppose i'm lucky that i'll be on the launch of this car later this year.

Whether you like it or not, we should all be proud that UK engineering can still produce a world beating product.

Loving the Zebrano wood inside too.
Your right, we should, shame JLR can't be bothered to send launch pictures with right hand drive to their home market - sloppy and arrogance to the extreme imho.

No mention of a seven seat option (again). That's an awfully big piece of metal that can only contain five people.

Read it again. The monocoque is 12kg heavier. The whole car is another 3/4 ton heavier.

Agreed. Although it may have the old "Chris Bangle" effect at a later date. However, the stats, if accurate, are amazing!!

I think the "tossers at the LR design studio" can probaly sleep well without worrying what you think. wink

Seriously? Does anyone at JLR just think we will swallow this frankly b*lls**t?

So lets get this clear, it has a higher Vmax because it has less mass? Probably also explains why JLR products consistently fail to meet the standards set by their german counterparts.
Makes quite a difference at Nardo. Because it's a banked circle, the cornering force is significant - around 1 lateral G. As Newton said, f=ma, so any m taken off results in a lot less f. That means more lateral grip available, which means higher speed if you are going around a corner.

-edit-

(changed oval to circle)

A great piece of engineering, although to my tastes, the styling is a little bit overdone (that said, i still think the pinnacle of RR ownership both starts and ends with the Classic, in hard dash form)

But.........i really do not like the interior. At all. The outgoing model has a superb interior, this just looks like a step back to me.

That said, i am far from a designer.

For 99% of owners it's ability to go off road is never ever ever going to be tested so who cares unless you're playing top trumps.
And what percentage of owners will take it to VMAX? So who cares unless you're playing top trumps rolleyes

Completely agree. It almost looks a bit VW Touareg-like.
