Tell me why I should or shouldn't get one.

I am aware that I will look like a raving chav but I'm st scared of proper bikes so this seems like a nice bit of middle ground.

A road legal quad? You'll die. No seriously, they're THAT fking dangerous. You'd be far safer getting a bike. Quads have stability issues when on dirt, with the added traction of sticky tarmac, sts going to go wrong very quickly. And it does happen ridiculously quickly, I learnt the hard way in my youth.

Forget it! nono

I've seen four or five on the roads in the last six months or so. Though, I've never seen the same one twice.

That explains why there aren't many about then.

Other than notoriously difficult to get to go around a corner and not really designed for the road - I am sure they are bloody hoot!

hehe

I am being overly hard on them, but they do require a certain technique for the road and they arent the most practical things. There is one around here thats fully tricked out with skinny tyres and some silly engine. Looks great and goes like the clappers, but for every knowing nod I am sure he gets an equal "bloody chav" comment... not sure the grief would be worth it.

Right, thanks for killing that idea for me hehe

I just thought they looked pretty cool and sound great. The handling issues make sense and I don't fancy having on land on me.

Mate has a rapture one, I have never seen him hold a lot of speed for long as the speed wobbles are something you have to see to believe hehe

I hate those fking things. I can't understand why anyone would have one when there are proper bikes available.

All the drawbacks of a car with none of the advantages of a motorbike.

I often see one on the way to work, often stuck in a traffic jam.

And there's the rub - unlike a proper bike, you can't filter through traffic so have to sit there as if you're in a car.
But of course unlike sitting in a car in traffic, you get very wet when it rains.

Not trying to piss on your strawberries, or anything OP.....

No please piss away smile

I really just saw it as a bit of a fun thing to do, they seem to be pretty cheap but they also seem fking dangerous.

Get yourself a two wheeler... Far better, and you'll save fuel and time on the way to work.

To be perfectly honest with you, I'd also looked at getting one last summer.....(I didn't get one ).

I've also looked at having some type of stupid, totally impractical and 'mid-life', trike. redface

Ive always looked at quads in the same light as jetskis, they can be brilliant fun in the right enviroment aslong as you have 2 of them.

Old guy in my street has recently sold his motorbike and bought a road legal quad. It sounds great!
