I've been looking for one of these for my partner. Obviously there are thousands to choose from but one thing puzzles me, even if it may not have any significance.

There seem to be a large number of very low mileage examples, say two years old with 3K on the clock. Are all these cars coming from a particular source, and if so, what is it? The mileage wouldn't support the idea that they are ex-hire, so what have they been doing, Motability, something else?

My search hasn't got as far as talking to dealers - that's the next step - I just thought someone here might know the answer.

Ignore above ^^.

If ex fleet/hire/driving school its very easy to check the mileage with the original company.

Vast majority of very low mileage ones will be ex Motability. They should all have service history to back up the mileage.
Yesterday I bought one that had done 3k miles/year , not that unusual. Have seen them do less than 1k per year from very genuine people.

Probably not serviced either yet.....

Could be ex-hire or ex learner school and wound back by the agent with a blank service book added..
fk me, that's a pretty impressive sweeping statement there! I'm sure every Ford dealer in the country is willing to risk their business for a clocked Fiesta! rolleyes

OP they're probably cars that Ford have registered to themselves, used for a year and they've been sat in the network waiting to be sold for a similar amount of time.

Probably ex-dealer demos and service cars.

If you think how big Ford dealerships are, and how many service loan cars they must each have - there will be loads coming on to the market...

Probably hire cars from the Channel Islands - my parents always seem to get a Fiesta everytime they visit there on holiday. Usually reasonable spec ones too, although some are bog-standard models.

Our car was ex-motability and was 3 years old with 9,000 miles on the clock.

Wouldn't say that was unusual for all the reasons mentioned above.

O/T, but they really are a good little car smile

Got to laugh... this thread has comments about "mileage reduction" on some of these Fiestas, and the 'ad' on the right hand side about 4 posts from the bottom is for haircuts hehe .

This.

My mum bought a 1.5 year old one with 9k miles on it that had been a ford fleet car, she put 7k on it in two years and PXed it for a new one only losing £1500 which seems mega value.

Got my brothers first car from an auction for £3,900 with 3k miles on the clock at 3 years old -Ex Motability.

I would echo that they are good value and don't seem to loose much money as he wrote it off at 5 years old with 31k on the clock when he went into the back of a pick-up. Immediatly prior to the crash it didn't have a straight pannel (bar the roof) and I managed to haggle the insurance company up to £3,700 which I didn't think was too bad.
