That sounds incredible, has shot right up the hierarchy of my favourite sounding motors. These sound amazing, almost impossible to better?

No.
The greatest sounding engine ever was the 1966 Honda V12, the engine that changed everything in F1 and caused Ferrari to lose a faith, the exhausts were tuned like instruments by Yamaha and this engine (which I've heard in the flesh) has a unique and haunting hollow howl.
Can't find a good clip anywhere except this:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di-TvOAaVug
It simply doesn't do this astonishing motor justice.
Also a Healey 3000 straight six with a large bore Peco is also very haunting...

Nothing and I mean NOTHING - no GT3, 355, Stradale, F40, V10 or V12 lambo, CGT, Zonda etc. - comes close to an F50 with straight through pipes. Its is the Grandaddy, the others are all little toddlers still at nursery and it will beast them all into oblivion with one kiss of the redline.
Not the best clip but from 57 seconds this will give the general gist:

Thought my (05) Quattroporte sounded pretty good..........
I agree. I'd urge you to watch 1:45 of this clip from the French movie Intouchables. Great every day useable car, fantastic noise that you can enjoy whatever the weather.

The 355 is up there, no doubt, wonderful noise.
I'm generally a bit of a sucker for induction noise, particularly when it comes to the CSL - which seems to be be faring well in this post - but this video gets me a bit 'jangly'.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qju9iEFqp3Y

Very poignant! Completely understand the de-clutch upshifts. Such a beautiful noise should be savoured and enjoyed. Sadly a point completely lost on 70proof and chums!!!
