RE: £1 million numberplate goes on sale
Discussion
2 plates that made me chuckle over the years are as follows;
When I was a wee nipper I remember a blue Renault 5 Gordini with AMP i5 T (differently spaced to read AM Pi5T)
Also, in the 90's saw M1NGE on an orange Diablo in London, laughed my c0ck off an thought, 'yeah, bet you get plenty mate'.

About then, yes- top tips. Nice to see someone else is pathetic enough to remember such nonsense- I really thought I was the only one However, I'll recall my numberplate story instead. Some years ago, I was driving down the M5 at a ...ahem... reasonable pace when I was overtaken by TUR 80, on a Porsche (yes, a turbo) doing considerably more. A few weeks later I happened to see in the small ads 'Numberplate for sale - TUR 80 £xxxx [can't remember the price], on written-off Porsche'. I was not surprised.
For my money (not enough to buy a st generic plate from DVLA) I would want something relating to me, or entirely random, but certainly not something related to the car.
X1 would be great, for example, for someone with a business called Eleven, but not on a Mac F1.
Diminutive McGee shagger Paul Daniels' MAG 1 C is quite neat.
My mate's R15CUE isn't quite right, but it's still worth more than the recovery truck it's on.
My old boss had 51FT - better IMHO than BH51FTT for example.
Local farmer's MA04COW is quite good on a farmer's Defender.
I had VT02ZTT on a ZT-T which was, on reflection, a bit crap.

Reading this topic the number plate I saw the other day springs to mind, its was WUT4
A now retired Motor Dealer round these parts owns 4CUF which always made me smile.
Back in the 1980's I worked in a Motor Factors where we made number plates for the trade and my claim to fame is that I once made A1.
At the time the plate belonged to Dunlop Tyres and was on a Ford Granada Estate, I think it was Yellow with Black and Red stripes but it could have been White, (it's awhile ago) The stripes were brush painted rather than sprayed on and it looked a right shed!

S1 NGH is (or at least was) owned by a Sikh chap who must have lived near Slough, presume Gerrards Cross or Fulmer as I used to see it pottering about fairly often around there and Stoke Poges. Looked great on the car.
BMW 1 I see fairly often as I now live in Bracknell, was on a pearl white 760Li and most recently seen on the same in dark blue. Also saw BMW 2 on the A3 on Sunday morning, a stickered up ActiveHybrid 5 Series.
DAV 1D used to live near my partner's home and was on a dark blue Bentley Arnage at the time. I gather it was owned by the chap that started the EastEnders booze warehouse in France when booze-cruises became all the rage.
