Tom,

That looks very nice with the 180's.

I live 50m from the Brompton Road so when you come through central London I'm sure I'll hear you:-)

My car has a 408ci stroker motor but I went for a mild cam for maximum torque due to the car being no lightweight, 412 BHP % 425 lb/ft and have converted my car from it's original 3-sp auto to a 5-sp stick shift.

Hi Phil,

I am actually going to, all being well, be bringing the beast into central london on Saturday. Staying up in St James but will no doubt trundle in through the west end.....

Mike Huddart racing engines built this as a street engine. 471 bhp and 466 lb/ft on a 393 stoker, Iron head conversion to Boss heads and a Holley street dominator. God I cannot wait. Have only ever driven 15 miles in this car since I bought it a year ago (I live abroad at present!).

When I worked at Nissan in Bury St Edmunds the chap who owned a building company had on of them. Obviously put the Micras and Notes to shame and made a rather sweet noise at the same time. A bit odd looking but different enough for it to be appreciated.

Love the Pantera, the one in the OP has nasty wheels though.

I remember thinking how beautiful they both looked close up !

I'm sure that BMW are likely picking up the brand for the high-end SUV and prestige saloon market in Asia rather than relaunching a Pantera.

Not a bad thing as I am another fan of the originals. I pick mine up at 10am tomorrow for a first drive of it's new 393ci and 471bhp engine...

Not often I get jealous on this site..

Ya bastid - awesome thumbup

Seen a couple of GT5S's at classic car shows in the last few weeks, absolutely gorgeous! One was white, the other one red.....the red one definately didn't have the standard engine in it though, sounded more like a Super Pro et dragster when he fired it up - VERY loud and with a fantastically lumpy tickover! Wonderful.

Oh come now, the Pantera GTS has NO faults or flaws..........maybe apart from the vent free engine cover? Whats with that?

1975. Fourteen years old in a small Irish town. Frosty Winter morning. Walked out of my cul de sac get my bus to school only to seen a Pantera waiting for the local garage to open - presumably to get fuel.

I didn't have the courage to ask for a spin.

Been smitten ever since though. One of the most gorgeous supercar shapes, and one which has aged really well. Tom T's finest moment.

My father was one of the few De Tomaso dealers in the UK in the 70's. From memory, he only ever had 1 new Pantera and there were a couple of used one's that came through. There was some JV with Maserati at the time as he was also a Msaer dealer as well. Needless to say, my brothers and i have been trying to find some pictures......

That is a beautiful car. I cannot understand the thought process that leads some to believe that they would prefer there were no more De Tomaso cars, rather than some under BMW ownership which if they can emulate the style will be fabulous cars!

Back in the 80's I remember being in the Bob Dawes golf shop in Uxbridge, where Mahjacks roundabout was, and an Orange Pantera GT5 pulls up outside on the pavement. Guy gets out of said vehicle goes up to the counter and asks "If I buy a dozen golf balls will I get a discount" having his request politely denied he storms out of the shop and zooms off. He looked a bit like Bernhard Langer it wasn't him but a very memorable experience all the same.
