Isn't this a smack-bang-in-the-middle-of-st-quality MB tho - we're talking rust and electrical nightmares beyond the realms of Bork!?

Very nice, might have to look into that.

Think it's been for sale for about 3 years. No idea why. Used by the owner of MCP for ages.

Weird, I wonder why?

I started out looking for a mint W124, and inevitably ended up looking at the AMG stuff.

Hey ho...

An outright lie in line one of the description isn't a good start

No - it will drop like every other car but if you throw money into it like it's going out of fashion, it might be vaguely collectable in about 20 years - maybe - but even then it won't return the money you need to maintain it let alone the insurance and either tax/petrol or SORN/storage costs...

Beware ANY car ad offering you a 'classic' which isn't wink

Just the usual dealer bvllst. Curious as to why it hasn't sold in 3 odd years?

I wouldn't rule it out at all. Just know it's been with them for ages.

No I'll add it to the list, which is now:

W123 - E280
W124 - E320,E300, E36 AMG

Outside possibility:
AMG C & E class up to~2005

Saloon or estate, not a*sed, though I'll probably end up with a E320 W124 anyway!

This C32 AMG Kompressor (W202) harks back to a halcyon period back in the early 2000s when scaling down cubic capacity was more of a corporate experiment than a market requirement. Looking at other hot C Classes, it could be argued that the C32 was one of AMG's less successful experiments. Its precursor, the C43 AMG, was a V8. Its successor was the C55, another V8.
Or, alternately, you could say that the W203 wouldn't accept a V8 until the facelift, at which point the 5.4 came out to play. This was my understanding.

First supercharged AMG though? Not that unsuccessful.

The C36 was a 6 cylinder too.

from what I understand these are very quick in a straight line but they didnt do much to the standard C320 chassis!! At the Autocar handling day 2001 at Rockingham, the C32 was over 4 seconds a lap slower than an E46 M3!!- thats quite a lot for a car that is quicker in a straight line than its BMW rival!! In fact the C32 was just a second quicker that day than an MG ZS 180 -gulp!!

Personally I'm waiting for something like the IS-F to come down in price, cheapest one is sub £18K already and they won't let you down!!

If you were looking for a W123 E230 saloon I know of a very nice one about to go on sale wink

It was, but it was also pre-MB ownership. The C43 onwards have all been V8s, except for the '32s.

I'll take both please, W211 E55 Kompressor....

Nice engine, relatively rare cars.

But the W203 / S203 do nothing for me whatsoever.

I hate the layout of the speedometer and dials - look really basic and 'childish'. (the facelift models sorted this I suppose...)

Build quality is horrid compared to the W202 C Class, and not a patch on the W201 190E models.

I would rather go for a W210 E55 AMG Estate - they are super rare, quick and have the grunt of an AMG V8.

I would go for this instead - http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/4219161.htm . Not RWD but in my experience (expecting to be flamed) far, far better built.

If you need a 6k AMG estate with a V8 that dissolves just as quickly as a C32

Smaller and slower than the C32 though. That said, I like these compact performance cars from all three of Audi, BMW and Mercedes - all offer a different combination of characteristics that have their own appeal.

Trully amazing value for Money!! Build quality is rubbish but if you take your eyes away from the cabin and drive it as intended it really is very quick leaving most cars for dust! The only person who didn't enjoy the experience was the dog lol! Fuel economy is no worse than a 330i BMW.

What a load of utter rubbish.

A 330 will show mid 30's on a decent run. A C32 AMG will struggle to deliver 25 at sensible motorway speeds.

How do I know? I've had both.
