Who said they were "good enough"?????

They are HORRIBLE on a road car detracting from involvement and make most people look like utter berks when parking!

As for efficiency, great, that`s what F1 is meant to be about but a road car? I want involvement!

If I get to a point where I have £150k to spend on 1 car it will have 3 pedals no matter how quickly or efficiently a PDK/F1/DCT/SST box can shift, not because I think I can shift better or more quickly but because I enjoy doing it!

Fact is, you quite fancy one, I hate the idea of one, so there should be a choice!
because a manual box is involving and fun which a paddle box wont be, dont really care what box a ferrari or mclaren etc have or if it changes gear quicker hot hatches are about fun this box will bore the hell out of you after 5 mins

Looks like everything else on the market? Check.
Heavy luxury leather trim in a hot-hatch which is piling on the pounds anyway? Check
Lovely, characterful NA engine replaced by soleless mini-turbo'd engine? Check.

And all this from the FRENCH?! I can take it from VW but I was always at least half-convinced that the frogs new what they were doing with small cars.

My god, what are today's youth meant to aspire to these days?

I dont understand this hatred for paddle shift boxes. If its good enough for a 458 or McLaren or a bloody F1 car then why not on a hot hatch?

Currently have a Megane 250 but I will consider one of these.
Because this one will be cheaper and therefore delayed and therefore crap.

Oh dear... looks ok but the main thing for me with the current RS models is the bespoke body shell, always think of the RS as a serious car rather than a tarted up shopping trolley! Really hope they manage to pull this off!

I really hope this is just an attempt at a warm hatch for the masses and they have something else up their sleeve for the enthusiasts.

Does anyone actually like simulated sound?

I experienced piped sound in the GT86 for the first time. I didn't like it.

Disappointed.

This thing is comically ugly the side on view particularly is fking hideous
Real shame as a 172 owner is something I could have aspired to own in a couple of years had it been any good oh well frown

Those don't look like Brembo brakes anymore either??!!

TBH it all depends how it drives - my R26R is no looker, but it never fails to put the BIGGEST smile on my face every single time I get a chance to drive it - guess we'll just have to wait for the reviews. Past efforts have been quite good though to be fair.

I'm trying to like it until I have driven it although this isn't going well.

It doesn't have any of the things I bought my 172 for. Fizzy NA engine (I understand why that's gone but still a shame), low weight, "proper" gearbox and no frills. Just an engine with a box around it that handles properly. I'd like to have a go in one though to see for myself.

Thing is we don't actually represent the overall buying population. People now think, sorry they actually know, that a double clutch box is far better(why would they be fitting them to 75% of new Porsches) and they aspire to own a car with one on, the same way as they aspire to have an Iphone 5 asap.

The fact that this deprives a minority of manual box fans has become irrelevant.

Or maybe not. The new 2013 MCS might still be a manual ? And I'd say the Clio now looks almost as ridiculous as a MINI.

Disagree......

The Clio V6 is what happens when you let employees drink Wine at Lunch.

This is what happens when some spoil sport says "No alcohol at all......it's bad for you!" hehe

Lack of manual kills it for me. The fake engine noise is a double blow to the head just to make sure.

With the skoda Fabian vRS and polo gti being auto only, what other options are there?

I've always owned hot hatches from the next size up, but these cars are becoming that size! I'd love a WRC inspired hot hatch with big arches and a MANUAL gearbox, but despite the current WRC cars looking st hot if a bit wakey, you can't buy one anything close!

fking bizarre IMO.

Hmmm.

I'll be sticking with my current 200 for a while, could even become a future classic (last of a dying breed and all that).

Looks great from the front but a bit grim/Seat from the back.

Fake engine sounds are bit Fisher price... hopefully this can be turned off. Or even twinned with fake flame effects from the exhaust tips? rolleyes
