Right.
PDK/DSG is awesome.
So much so i'm having DSG in my Golf GTI.
It's much better at changing gear on a kesselrun than i'll ever be and it allows me to concentrate on braking and steering.
I'm sorry, but i don't quite see what the big deal is.
In the right car, its probably ace. Like SMG in the M5/CSLPDK/DSG is awesome.

Personally, my major gripe is the noise.
Double-Clutch Autos are better than probably 90% of people driving on the roads today.

Not really going to be an issue in the turbocharged future ahead.

What about the 10% Double-Clutch Autos are better than probably 90% of people driving on the roads today.
I'm one of the 90% so it's progress for me.
I get more satisfaction stringing a piece of road together - the Evo X SST i had was a case in point, i enjoyed the fact the next gear was just a flick of the finger away - it allowed me more time to think and place the car correctly.
I'd go so far to say i've never driven a car as hard or as quickly - the gearbox allowed me to do that.
Chaps, I've been tasked at work with replacing our engineering vehicle.
It's a Volvo V70 D5 AWD. Work have said can be new / leased or bought outright nearly new.
Which would be cheaper / better deal.
Replacement must be diesel, must be estate, bluetooth and xenons are highly desirable.
I've spec'd a new 320d m-sport @ £33k. A4 is £32k, C class is £32k, Vovle is 28k + options, Octavia VRS is £25k.
You can get an old shape (E91?) 320d kitted out with 5k miles for £25k

Still changing my mind...what's the consensus on an e61 550i manual, 1 owner, 60k miles, full bmw sh with an ins 2 just completed for £12k...assuming it all checks out.
Cheers

Doesn't sound all that cheap unless it's less than 3 years old...

I reckon it's worth £11k tops, even WBAC bid £9.5k trouble is there are so few 550is let alone Spanish ones so its a bit tricky to put a value on.
I believe their quantities are in single figures.

It's almost a meme, but what about a Yeti? Bluetooth/satnav kit is excellent. It's a Volvo V70 D5 AWD. Work have said can be new / leased or bought outright nearly new.

That particular one adds up, and was on my radar for a while.
But I'm recently a bit meh over the E61 after spotting an identical 530d in the street and noting to self how dated they were starting to look.
Surely we buy cars like that to do a job? In that case, the 5 pot Mondeo Titanium (yawn) where my money went was at least current, newer, half the miles, half the price, has something called ride quality, probably won't be far off as quickmonce mapped, and will do the job equally as well. Even if we're not comparing eggs wit eggs.

To be honest, we've done this debate to death before.
As we all know, i'm camp.
Well, quite. As we all know, i'm camp.
In all seriousness, I've never driven a PDK/DSG/SMG/Other double clutch gearbox.
I can see the appeal in certain cars but for the most involving and satisfying experience I would go Spanish.
