-Only 500 in the world (this model 478/500)
-7000KM
Ford marketing at its finest
And at it's lowest were the front wheel drive Escort Mexico and RS2000 hurl.

The price on any of these types of car depend solely on nostalgia and how deep your pocket is, they all have appeal some more to others,
Would I pay £65k for a sierra no chance,
Ask me again when I have 40 million in the bank I'm sure I might possibly do something stupid and purchase 1,
;0)

Would you pay 85k for an Integrale? Would you pay 100k for an E30 M3?

Personally I dont know ...... You might, you might not.

When we have £40 million in the bank we might do like you say. I'd probably have one of each, way before I bought a Veyron. Up till then, I guess neither of us will be buying any cars like this. Doubt they will drop to 3k because we don't though wink

As you say, they are what they are.....

Lol so a cossie isn't just an old sierra with an old pinto used for years and years with a 16v head plonked on it
And some tatty kit bolted on the outside,
I like cossies but you have just summed up the focus rs in exactly the same fashion as to what a sierra cosworth is,
They are both production cars a sierra cosworth is no more trick than a focus rs is it really ? The only difference is which wheels are driven, there both family cars with a bit of oomph
Spot on.....finally someone with some sense on here!
All these type of cars are based on humdrum kit- majority of which are sub 1k cars now - see old E30s, Merc 190s, Sierras, Deltas, Audi Coupes etc
Yes but BMW E30s and Merc 190s were quality cars to start with....while the Ford Sierra was just crap.
Even more amazing how Ford transformed it into a BTCC winner with a body kit and 16valve head .......
Amazing what spending stloads of money can do! rolleyes
Same as many factory teams and Motorsport departments rolleyes
Agreed....but at the end of the day it is still just an old Ford Sierra hurl
True, same as an E30 M3 is just an old BM, an Integrale is just an old Delta etc etc.......
hehe Forget it pal. You're either in the "I get it" camp or the "I don't get it" camp. No point trying to convert anyone...! Different people like different stuff...!!!

Yes, I wasn't accusing you of being a Veyron fan by the way, just illustrating what I'd rather buy.

Let us look forward to our £40 million and purchase plans........

Yep. That's about right. Not sure about unofficial factory support. Certainly Rouse had this but he was very much running ARE his way.
Reminds me of a story about scrutineers asking a team principle/ driver why the compressor housing had a weld running around it, apparently it had cracked and the weld was a repair laugh alledgedly the housing had been cut open, the inside machined out and then it was welded back together.

Veyrons are incredible pieces of engineering, all the same. The
quality of those things is astonishing. Sad that many buyers simply don't appreciate that.

The original block was a "selected" pinto block, heard a rumour that Cosworth wanted to use an alloy block but Ford wouldn't pay for it.

Supposedly, at one point they were going to be all silver in colour, then they wanted all black....... but had to make do with whatever colours were left

I work on them, one cost a lot of money DB4 say a 3dr cos and the gt ie race spec cost ALOT more (rs500)...put a name to a winning DB4gt...whack amother 100-200k... on top of that..

its just how it is

The RS500 ARE selling for big money, just like the german, french, italian equivalent of that time are also selling for large sums.

If i could afford it i'd have a F40 or 959
