I have a 145 cloverleaf. Engine is fairly worn. My mate's 16 valve polo feels a lot quicker, so to me it's really slow. Yet everyone who gets in my car comments on how quick it is.

Still regretting the day I sold the V70 T5.

Bora TDi 130 - Not fast, but can be a bit nippy if caught in the right gear at the right speed.

You really need a motorbike if you want to go fast.

My 200bhp Westfield....I've been in McLaren SLR, Porsche Carrera GT, Various Lambos and Ferraris but....my car 'seems' faster than all of them, Ok, it 'only' does a 4.5 second 0-60 but when you're a couple of inches from the ground, have the exhaust exiting 2 feet from your ears and are strapped in with a full racing harness nothing seems faster! smile

My Caterham is really fast apparently, dispite being one of the slowest ones there is! What it lacks in ultimate speed, it makes up for in sensation.

I've got a 318i and my friends think its somewhere along the lines of a cruise missile, or better yet the first time bill gates got laid.

I think, its about fast enough, for now. Once I get the hang of this RWD lark it won't be fast enough at all.

But its all relative. Most people my age don't have more than 1 litre in their KA or fiesta, so yes in comparison my car is fast. In comparison to everyone on here, I would hazard its in the bottom five percent in terms of speed.

I find that forcing your head into the back of the chair and pretending you are about to hit warp speed in the Millenium falcon helps with regards to how fast you think you are going.

E39 528i SE... yeah pretty quick, can be fast. Certainly not a slouch anyway. Nothing on modern hatchbacks though. To be honest on the road I haven't driven quicker, only a passenger. It's not too much slower than my mates 2003 Civic Type R.

I think I'd class my TT as 'quick'.

I'm fortunate that I get to drive quite a lot of relatively high performance cars. It's actually quite a long time since I've driven something that felt 'fast'.

Sadly that includes plenty of 400bhp+ cars.

Think I need to get in to bikes!

997 Carrera 2S - I'd say it was fast.

Classic Mini with a 170bhp VTEC - yeah, I'll stick with fast.

Technically still own a 1.2 Corsa (my sister drives it but my name's on the logbook, never bothered changing as it's been round the family) no, really not fast.

Fast enough to be able to use all the available performance regularly without getting into too much trouble, Subaru leggy 3.0R Spec B.

Last proper fast car I had was an evo VI, all the available performance in that on a regualr basis would end in tears.

My 1.2 Polo (6R) can make useful progress on the tighter roads - expectedly it's slow on the flats. I love it all the same, it is my first car after all.

944 Turbo. It used to be a fast car, but with everything else getting faster, I say now that it was still a quick car.

To be fare many people I think are under rating their cars. Anything over 200bhp/tonne feels quite rapid accelerating, over 250bhp/tonne is fast accelerating. My Mrs use to describe my track car as "the feeling of when a plane is just leaving the runway". Of course you need a big bhp figure for a high top speed but that's irrelevant on the road. Bikes do make cars seem slow when you are on a bike making them disappear behind you. However sat behind the wheel of something with 250+bhp/tonne you are shoved in your seat and on roads can't keep the foot buried for long at all. Better power to weight ratios just make the car even faster, it doesn't make an already fast car slow.
