Compared to the other vehicles I drive regularly (two pickups and a dying van) then yes, my Fabia is very fast.

In reality, it's quick enough.

Fast depends on driver input, currently my car is not fast but little seems to keep up with me on the open road.

My car actually does not move at all. It needs a driver to go anywhere. As a driver I am occasionally fast and averagely talented.

Funny, I don't consider my car as 'fast' but pretty nippy. However, when I take people out in it they think it's really fast. Maybe it's the passenger effect when you're not in control can seem faster (?)

This is my Clio V6

Its all relative.
Need to make this into a poll with choices of bhp/t
Mine is 313bhp/t and is fairly rapid but in the grand scheme of things would get killed at a VMAX meet. Christ I have a mate who has a Corsa that is faster than mine.
Though if you are looking for standard cars with better pwr they you either have to be in a Caterham or similar or a proper supercar.

I find cars always "feel" faster when your in the passenger seat even more so riding pillion on a bike wink .

Z4M - Fast (especially with the roof down and as the seating position is low)

GSXR750 - Fast

Speed Triple - Fast

Passat - Not fast but it can corner quicker than you'd expect the lardy thing to be able to.
Porsche 944 - Not fast and with knackered suspension it doesn't corner particularly quickly either.

Never judge performance on a passengers' reactions. They scare/shout/get sick far too easily biggrin
Is my Volvo fast? Not really compared to some of the metal on here but it is quick enough to make three year old sick from a standing start...
My S60T5 with a few things done to help it achieve 310bhp doesn't blow my mind but I would dare say it's quicker than 90% of things I see on the M2 every morning. And to passengers who have never been in something with more more than 100bhp/ton at full throttle it does seem to provoke a response though...

The only time I have had my mind blown was riding pillion on a S1000RR, but we aren't talking cars then are we...

I don't think so. I'd consider my LS more adequate than brisk. Put it this way, it's more Sumo than Ninja.

Boxster (986 S) = Quick enough for B and twistier A roads but sometimes when trying to accelrate hard from say 80 onwards i wish it had more power. I was at Curborough on Sunday and there were a couple of 986/7's and an E92 M3, TBH the M3 looked to be in a totally different league performance-wise

206 2.0 HDI = Unbelievably fast, all those diesel torques etc, dread to think what it would be like if it was remapped..... no, not fast atall, but adequate for the commute

Focus RS about 250 bhp with a couple of little mods feels a bit slow compared to this.

203 bhp at the back wheel and around 185 kilo's.

I think my 944 feels fairly brisk, it isnt all about actual lateral G (thought it is part of it), it is noise, power delivery, feel, traction and every sensation injvolved in being accelerated, Lateral G is only part of the equation, you can buy diesel Audi's that do 0-60 in 5 and a bit seconds, as quick as a bona fide 80s supercar, but which would feel quicker, it isnt the leather lined diesel barge, you may get an indication of building speed but even that rate of accelration along isnt enough to guarantee it feeling apocalyptic, definitely a solid shove but not dramatic without the other factors.

The rental Mustang V8 with 400 plus bhp I had was pretty quick but needed really winding up to give its best, soon got used to it and was craving more edge to it, the 650 bhp Shelby one I supsect would deliver, if I can get in it and give it utter death within a few minutes it could use some more power, I think bigger, heavy duty stuff like that sometimes doesnt feel massively quicker than some smaller things as they tend to be bigger, higher geared and smoother due to more cylinders, shouty big boosted turbo four cylinders in light cars I think are the cheapest way to get that crazy acceleration feeling, a mate of mine had a tuned Astra Turbo and it was mental, he hankered after a Monaro and saved up to buy one, drove it and thought it felt like a slow truck in comparison and then went for an Imporeza WR1.
