92 CRX 1.6 140hp 940kg checking in.
It's as fast as a E60 520d with 160-something hp, my cousin and I did some pulls the other day and he said he was flooring it. I was surprised, really thought he'd disappear after auto kickdown.
Anyway, not fast but FEELS fast and that's one important quality. Was in a Jag XJR Supercharged once, the needle just kept climbing, the rear was unsettling but I felt no excitement.
Then again, I don't live near Autobahn, where something powerful but civilized would be nice.
Fastest car I've sat in was an E36 M3 on track, stock engine but stripped out with semi-slicks. My neck was O.K. during acceleration but my God it was fast in the corners... Upgraded brakes nearly popped my eyes out. Fun fun fun
Im surprised that you're surprised, that your CRX could keep up with a big heavy 2.0 diesel 5 series! It's as fast as a E60 520d with 160-something hp, my cousin and I did some pulls the other day and he said he was flooring it. I was surprised, really thought he'd disappear after auto kickdown.

Despite being only 20 and (as of 2 weeks ago) now owning a 400bhp saloon, nothing im going to own anytime soon will likely feel crazy fast after a couple hour journey in a certain PHer's Noble M12.
That's impressive, I thought buying a 231bhp RWD saloon at 19 was impressive, but hats off to ya that is more impressive.GroundEffect said:
Cars are faster in corners. That's pretty well understood. And it does depend on the bike - I've kept a Fazer 600 at bay on a twisty road in my Integra Type R.
And you should do, but bikes are much more rider dependent. Any halfwit can drive a car fairly quickly and sling it round a corner briskly. Cars are ultimately turn the wheel and press to pedals (up to a point), pretty easy. To do the same on a bike takes a lot of skill because you can end up in a hedge pretty quickly, and a lot of riders don't have the skill... that's why they're slow in the corners and compensate for their shrinking willy with a blast down the straights. On topic
Mini R50 cooper, 120hp 1100kg ish. 9ish to 60 Feels a lot quicker than it is. Great fun, but not what Id call fast.
Caterham 7 S3 1.8 zetec 160hp. 250-260bhp/ton Feels very quick through gears 1,2,3. Fast up to 90, beyond that aerodynamics ruin it. Huge cornering pace is what usually scares passengers though. It's fast but not OMG my testicles are in my spleen fast. Feels slow on a wide track.
Daily motorbike. 650cc twin 65hp, close ratios and 280kg with me onboard. Only bout 230bhp/ton but will pull 0-60 4 seconds clean and is quick up to 90. Tops out indicated 120. Havn't had a car beat me off the lights or up to 70 ever. Only bigger bikes. Feels fast because the front end is lofty.
SLOW for a bike.
Regulary borrowed bike 1050cc triple
118hp 290kg all up. 400bhp/ton. TOTALLY different kind of performance compared to anything but seriously fettled with/exotic cars.
MEDIUM pace for a bike. Feels very fast until you've been riding it for an hour and then you used to it.

I have a 1.8 NONE cat Carbed 8 V cavalier, with 92 bhp, a 1.6 mk1 mx5 monza with 88 bhp and a 2.2 diesel accord with 136 bhp.
The accord is the fastest, in a straight line, on acceleration, but cornering I worry. The Mx5 is the slowest of all mx5's and yet makes you feel fast. And quite frankly I'd rather overtake on a B road in the mx5. Something about the size perhaps? Handling is rarely tested, but it's RWD so dangerous in the wrong hands, with st tyres in the rain.
The Cavalier isn't fast, although 12 years ago when we got it, it was. But you can still scare passengers, so hey....It's fast.

I've tried some small cc bikes, and it does takes some balls to speed on two wheels, and jedi-like reflexes to tune the input you're giving the super sensitive bike controls... Especially because a voice in the back of my head keeps reminding me that there are nothing to protect you except your helmet and some mm thick clothes...Funny thing is, in summertime a few years ago, I had a bike (a very slow one) and almost didn't drive a car. When I sold it (had no proper garage solution for it) and got back in to a car, I could drive so much harder and perhaps faster because of the extra security I felt! And that was in a tin can called the first generation MX-5!
I also managed to slip on some gravel when stopping at low speed once; the bike fell with me with all the weight on my left knee hitting the asphalt, and that definitely got me thinking about to large (250cc+) bikes...
