Wouldn't that pretty much just be a Holden Commodore? wink
yes, my wifes uncle was involved in the development of that and they pretty much passed it onto the the Aussies. He does own one of the deveopment Omega V8's however and its running an LS engine so its pretty much identical to the early Commodore SS. I am going to try and buy it off him when I see him at xmas - I kid you not when I say he literally only uses it for towing his caravan!

Opel got as far as doing Autobahn testing on a V8 Omega but they couldn't keep it cool enough on long runs for production.

I assume that the torque figure has gone from something like 150 ish lbs ft to around 385 ish lbs ft. I wonder what that does to the body, driveshafts, diff mounts etc.

I hate these threads. Every post makes me feel that slotting an LS3 V8 into my MX5 is perfectly sensible.

Rubbish pics but one I've been working on recently (it's only an LS1 so not as sensible as an LS3 wink )

Oh why did I have to read this thread, I bought an old Merc 230e the other week and I'm getting Ideas. Anyone got any ideas what to put in it, I was looking at a CLK 5.5 AMG engine on ebay last night.

An MX5 with a V8. You just couldn't get a car that screams "Piston Heads" more than that! biglaugh

both unique AND insane:

"This one of a kind opel GT, was built somewhere in the early seventies by a inventor in ohio. As the story goes this opel lost a race with a train early in its life and went on to become the donor vehicle of a early P-51 allison V-12 or 1710 =one thousand seven hundred ten cu.in. 1250 HP. It has a 10,000 lb release clutch, a custom differental with straight gears inboard axel disc brakes, fwd arms and coil over shocks, Independent susp. all adjustable,a chev, truck 4 speed transmission. A custom rear cover of fiberglas and aluminum, this car was street legal, all lights, muffler cut outs(runs straight pipes or thru some mufflers) horn etc. No roll bars or bracing NOT a drag or race car strictly sight and sound 2000lbs of engine right behind you no fire wall "
