That'll be the GM "Detroit diesel" 6.2/6.2 TDV8, as found in Humvees and Yank motorhomes. A legendarily torquey engine with an equally legendary appetite for destroying gearboxes due to the somewhat unsophisticated power delivery (it's a rather old and crude design).

A friend of mine used to know someone who ran one, he once said to me:

Some rednecks have shoehorned the 4- and 6-cylinder versions into American pick-ups, but I'm pretty sure the V8 version wouldn't fit!!

there's a whole episode on Jay Leno's garage dedicated to that car/lorry thing. Can't say i was particularly taken with it tbh, lumpen bloody thing, IMO

Yes the owner has been on counting cars a few times with it,firstly with 2 engines then in the next series he showed up with it now having 4 engines,did all the work himself aswell

Z Cars mini conversions are mental - I'd love one some day but think it would end very badly, such a short wheel base and all that power wouldn't translate well onto the Aberdeenshire country roads. I have about five other car itches to scratch first, too,
