Ive only ever seen one woman driving an evoque, she was naturally beautiful and was driving it really hard, all the rest have had men in them. Ages 20's to 60's

Mini country*MAN* however have all been driven by women, mostly mums picking up their kids etc.

But then i dont live somewhere populated by orange people shouting "shatuuuup u seriousss??"

Evoque's and mini's should only be driven by women. The only allowance for a man to be driving either should be if a woman is in the passenger seat, may give a reasonable indication that it is her car and you are being a gent by driving her.

lmao... i feel like ive just gone back in time to victorian England, maybe women shouldnt be allowed in either as they are too high, heaven forbid they should show a bare ankle when exiting said wheeled contraptions.

Look at all the mundane rubbish littering our roads, how sad would you have to be to actually care what anyone in those dull boxes thinks of you.

Seconded.

I had one as a courtesy car from the LR dealer, SD4. Whilst it seemed quite well screwed together, and it certainly could hustle along the lanes far quicker than my own, I too had difficulty working out what it was for. Hated the low roof. I certainly couldn't get a straw bale in the back, or a sheep, well perhaps maybe a small good looking one. paperbag The suspension was just too fidgety, and uncomfortable, which helped with the hustle on the twisties bit admittedly, and it certainly hustled very well for a 4wd-er down my local test track, known locally as the switchback.

I also had to go to Solihull and every time I set, adjusted or resumed the cruise control on the motorway a really bloody annoying graph popped up showing me just how many plant food gas molecules I was puthering out into the atmosphere for every km, and if I slowed down a bit it would reward me by putting me on the green part of the graph. J.u.s.t__s.o.d__r.i.g.h.t__o.f.f__P.o.r.r.i.t.t__y.o.u__t.w.u.n.t__!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goodies seemed OK, and seeing as I'd wellied it, certainly used less gas than mine, which is a TD4 auto. When got back in the FL2, sunk into those armchairs, and floated off home in comfort, and not that much slower either.

So yes,car for TOWIEs.

I can see the appeal of it, it's a good looking car but definatly a girls car, nothing wrong with that though.
I also don't consider it a Range Rover, after all it is just a Freelander but more asthetically pleasing to appeal to its target demographic.
Yes it's very much a girls car, I still like it but I would never spend my own money on one, the fact that JLR have them flying out of the door can only be a good thing though.

People actually want more than one? yikes
Sequentially, rather than concurrently I'd assumed. What's wrong with two anyway if you're lucky enough to find two that can put up with you? wink

Anyway, the Evoque. The more of them I see around the place (Ascot High St is local, so that's a LOT, admittedly helped by the presence of a JLR dealership), the more I like them.

Provided they drive well for what they are, I'd be happy to own one sometime. Had a look around and sit in a pre-launch example at Windsor Horse Show last year and it has a wonderful feel to the interior, as well as the styling inside and out.

Of all the smaller SAVs, I like these and XC60s (that share elements of the basic platform underneath Evoque) a lot and have run the latter as demos. X1/3s just don't appeal quite as much and the Tiguan and Q5 just look like the usual inoffensive enough but not exactly adventurous VAG products that they are.

Final judgment reserved until I do get to drive one, but going by the comments of people well placed to do so as well as press reviews, they're a hoot to drive. That makes them PH enough for me.

For girls? I don't really consider cars as "for" one gender/sexuality or another.

Isn't "is it a girl's car" a bit of a puerile question, or am I just showing my age? Get a grip PH.

Woman are a more profitable sector - they are, I would guess, less likely to arse about over the price, know what they want, are more likely to go back to the dealer to get it serviced and fixed and are more likely to be more pliable customers and potential repeat purchasers. Cha-ching and cha-ching.

I base this on extensive research I conducted over a bowl of soup at the homeless shelter this morning. wink

I bought one for my wife, but have to say I think it's a decent drive, well screwed together, and very good off road. Needs more poke mind.

Unfortunately, not only is it a girls car, its a kids car too.

Anyone over 24 in an Evoque looks ridiculous.

Lovely pic!

I think what did it for me was the connection to Victoria Beckham. I'd run a mile from anything she was related to so sadly, what seems to be a fairly good looking and capable motor got struck off my want list.

It's a very striking car, and a welcome diversion from the myriad of grey Audis and BMWs round these parts.

I'd certainly buy one (for the missus)

In reality it has zero connection to her apart from the special edition she picked the pretty colours for.

Judging from the amount of brake dust she manages to acumulate on her alloys, that sounds suspiciously like Mrs Digga.

BTW, I didn't buy the car for her, she bought it herself, cash, because she's an independant sort. Although as another poster mentioned ion this thread, I do occasionally like to keep her in check by referring to her as my first wife.

As for the Evoque, it is really growing on me, to the point where, if I didn't have to lug around mountain bikes (you can get a 'whole' bike in a Disco - much more seccure than on a roof rack or towbar rack) and a pair of muddy dogs on a regular basis, I'd have one.

It's also a daft reason. Would anyone not buy an LFA because Katie Price bought one?

No, it's a good excuse for a bit of light hearted banter.

I don't particularly like or dislike Evoques. I do admire the marketing and the profits. And I like having a laugh.

Subsitute "girls" for "gays" or "blacks" and does it still read as just banter? It is puerile.

It is a bit girly, but not particularly so in its segment - all modern 'SUVs' look mumsy IMO.
