That looks like a bargain! Mind you, having owned a V6 GTV I can pretty much guarantee for that money the oil cooler will be leaking, the rear suspension bushes will be shot, cambelt needs changing, etc, etc.............gotta love old Alfas smile

Not sure if your aware of this but the Rover lump was designed by Buick...an American company, and yes its not the best performance per CC, but sounds lovely.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit I know but thought I would return the favour wink
Yes I'm quite aware of the Buick 215 thanks. V6's can sound good too BTW. And a stock RV8 on stock exhausts really doesn't sound much at all tbh.

Also this is a 4x4, low rpm torque is arguably far more useful than high revving low displacement engines making the same power.
My old Rangie with a 4.0 V8 has a lovely rumble on stock exhausts.

Matt.
A good friend of mine has one of these Blazers as his all weather all terrain hack..his one is the same V6 as this SOTW (never thought I'd see one on PH though).....It makes a great sound and has been a reliable workhorse for him for over three years now.

I'd have one, tbh if he ever sells it I'll be asking for first refusal.

But please draw the line at 25 opinions per thread eh??

Otherwise we'll have to get Jason Plato to meet you at the dry cleaners. wink

Won't the consequences of that be the PH community being drawn into a vast and all consuming chasm of divide-by-zero'ness.

...

On a cost for cost basis, is there any advantage to this shed over the usual suspects Europe or Japan wise?

I like it too. It's a good left field choice, and I for one don't want to read about yet another German barge.

Nice work Shed smile

Seen worse, a slightly more interesting take on a buying an old Disco, Frontera, Maverick, Terrano or whatever, and realistically the other choices, even in diesel form wouldnt be that economical, anything like a Land Cruiser, Defender or the other sought after 4 by 4s will be expensive, this is the kind of thing you buy to do a job and then scrap when it gets expensive.

Driven a couple of these (V8 ones though), not a bad car..nothing special but i'd say the V6 would be more suited for the UK...

paint it matt black, put some monster tyres on it and you have a winner. If that dont float your boat, give it a pass and buy an old Shogun!

Deserves to be here simply because its different to most weeks SOTW.
This is quite a lot of car for the money
Buy it for winter playtime, then sell/break in spring, you probably wouldn't loose any £.
Btw amongst other cars we have a Chrysler grand voyager (for child minding duties) 3.3 V6 which is less efficient than an 18 th century steam engine.

Blazer- funny.

I drove a few when I lived in the states. It's like driving a transit van only not as sharp handling wise. biggrin

I'm going to stick my 2p's worth here...

  • idiodsyncratic - yes
  • ridiculously cheap with regards to amount of metal for the money - yes
  • huge waft-o-matic engine - yes
Not every shed is going to suit everyone. It makes a change from the usual fare of German exec-boxes or time bomb alfas. Personally I quite like the variety we have been seeing recently, so get over yourselves people.

Also, for everyone saying its a huge, shoddy yank tank - they sold very well over here and rivalled the XJ Jeep cherokees. I dont see you calling them huge. FYI I'd rather have a Jeep (due to the diseasel option they did) but if I was in the market for a petrol 4x4 shed then this would certainly be in my considerations as an alternative to the V8 Discrotteries
