If I had that sort of cash though (even though this might be more hard core) I'd take the 458 Italia.

Thats the issue. I think most would. I've heard a few people say "Oh I'd love a 458Italia" never heard "Oh I'd love a MP4-12C"...
You've never been standing by me, then.

I'd rather have a 12c.
Nor me, I love the 12C!

Not me, I was next to a 458 today and they're lovely but the 12C is cooler. IMO.

Love the home videoness about it.

What was the chase car and lead car in some shots? Another one? It was doing well to keep up/stay ahead if it wasn't

Different tyres front to rear?
Could be wrong, but I believe the Pirelli Corsa system consists of a directional front tyre and an assymetrical rear.

It's a second, yellow spider.

Ha, was just about to edit as watched it again and saw the yellow air brake flicking up. Couple that with the yellow one at the start 2+2...

And MP4 was always McLaren Project4 from the early eighties F1 cars.
That's what I'd always heard as well.

Nice vid, but the car still doesn't excite me like some. Also agree that they do look better in the metal/carbon though.

I normally love Chris's films but is it just me or was this one a bit, well, amateurish? The sound quality was poor, the editing seemed very jerky and what was with all the focus to out-of-focus and vice versa stuff at the start all about?

Great car though and even more so when you consider that with this being only Mclaren's second road car, they are being spoken about in the same vein as Ferrari with their 458. Incredible stuff. I'd have the Mclaren, a great British success story. I love the 458 too though!

For a car that I felt relatively indifferent to initially, I'm surprised to announce that this is now top of my 'new car fantasy garage'.

I know what you mean.

When they both came out I much preferred the 458. It is an excellent car, but it also suffers slightly from being the default choice.

Now, having seen a couple of McLarens on the road I prefer them. They have a more bespoke feel about them.

Yeah that's how i feel too. It's taken a while for the McLaren to sort of "sink in" with me. I'd chose one over the 458 now.

Today at Millbrook there was a 12c spider parked next to a 458 spider. I know that beauty is, of course, totally subjective, but the 458 looked head and shoulders the nicer car IMHO
Then again, life would be boring if we all liked the same thing

The 458 is the better looking car, but the 12C has that quirky Britishness about it.

Almost like what a modern day Bristol should be like.
