Whhhhat! That's just silly, why deny yourself something you want... A boyhood dream man, because of what other people think. The only people who matter are friends and family and they know who you are. I personally would never presume a Porsche, Ferrari or M driver was the stereotype. In fact I admire the car and spend no time wondering whether the person driving is a total tosser or a fantastic individual.
If you can have a Ferrari, go and get it.

Chilliman. Get yourself a 360. As a long term Ferrari owner I can report to you that whereas a greater proportion of Ferrari owners are bell ends than the population as a whole, it’s nowhere near 50%.

Even if you don’t like your 360, you’ll be able to spend the rest of your life with the satisfaction of knowing you had one and it didn't suit you for whatever reason.

Do what I did. Get a black one. They’re less shouty and more fun to drive than one in look-at-me- everybody red with disgusting cream interior.

Back on topic: great work, Chris. The home video qualities did not spoil it for me at all.

I have been lucky enough to drive a 12C on several occasions & they’re great cars. I’d far rather have one of these than a 458. I’m really looking forward to the P13.

So Jenson and Lewis aren’t driving an MP4-27 in 2012?

And none of their predecessors ever drove MP4-26 or MP4-25, etc. etc ad infinitem – well back to 1.

Obviously I am still in the 80’s and stand corrected, as a 2012 MP4-12C owner and driver, to your superior knowledge.
Dear McLaren owner

I first thought you were posting to correct my assertion that the M in MP4 had stood for McLaren, as opposed to Marlborough, since the MP4/1 of 1981 designed as the first carbon F1 car by John Barnard. I would have thanked you for the correction since I've held this belief for more than twenty years having read a technical book about the MP4/4 (as an owner you'll know this was the 2.5 bar Honda engined car raced by Prost and Senna in 1988 winning all of the 16 races bar the Italian GP when Senna was tripped up by back marker ,Jean Louis Sclesser IIRC). However it seems this was an incorrect belief on my part and the M probably did stand for Marlborough initially. My apologies to the forum.

However you seemed actually to think I had no idea that the MP4 prefix has applied to every McLaren F1 car since RD took over. If so your point is superfluous. That you need to tell us in each of 3 successive posts that you are an owner would suggest that McLaren is also catching up with Ferrari in how it's buyers will come to be perceived. Flemke you ain't.

Nice post production effects Mr Harris... if that is your real name. The home movie edit didn’t fool me. Tiff and Jason have already proven that you can’t drift a 12C.
Tiff and Jason have already proven that they didn't want to listen to the representative from McLaren talking them through the car's systems and controls and so tried to do all of the drifting shots with the stability control switched on.

But I shudder at the thought of one day joining the Ferrari lifestyle. The buying process, service visits, other owners, Ferrari get-togethers and pose-a-thons. I run in to a lot of Ferrari owners and few are the ones with whom I'd want to spend time.
rofl that's a disgraceful view. wink

Ferrari merchandise can be very useful as it is a pretty good indicator of who to swerve. Like a fit girl having gonorrhoea stamped on her forehead.

Yes, this (along with the piss-take servicing costs) was one of the things that diverted me from Ferrari towards Porsche.

I'd have had to drive up the high street with a paper bag on my head in case anybody recognised me.

tony993 thanks for your advice, It's appreciated and I know you're absolutely spot on with it. Black one you say? I have a few laps booked at Silverstone (birthday prezzie) in a 360 and an AMV8V, and looking forward to it rather alot smile I'm guessing the the 360 will be a tad quicker on track than the Aston? wink

Cheers,

Chilli

You will enjoy your Silverstone experience. I filled a spare place on a friend’s corporate entertainment day there recently. Their 360s were really well prepared & the instructors at Silverstone are very good. I thought they’d be telling me to change up at 5k but they didn’t & I had a lot of fun.

AMV8V: Best looking modern car. & I love the size of these (quite small compared to other modern stuff). I have only driven one once & it was better than I expected on twisty B roads but I should think its weight will hinder it on track.

Been out in one of the first Spiders today, had a few quick cars in my time (GTR, Early 4.5 Cerb) but this thing was something else - most impressive was how solid it felt and how well it rode suspension on it is impressive almost beyond the ballistic performance. Now all I need is the £200k to buy one.
