I am a fan of the 964 Turbo: I always thought the subsequent 993 Turbo looked like it had been sat out in the hot sun too long.

Nevertheless I don't see why this one is worth anything like the asking price. You could buy 2 x 375bhp Ferrari 355 with lower mileages for that sort of money.
And you could buy two very nice E34 M5 3.8s for the cost of an LC. Please don't let this become another endless debate about the values of various cars. They're rare, people like them, someone will buy it, the end as far as I'm concerned
It's not about the value of other cars... seeing that there are 6 other cars of the same type at half of the price on the same website... just two who have their price ridiculously high.

Had one of these in the 90s (3.6 Turbo) and it took a long time to realise that their was no point fretting about how much the steering wheel moved around on an uneven road surface and that it would sort itself out, sideways on the other hand was scary, lots of lock VERY quickly with not very much angle!

It also felt SOOO much faster than the BHP would suggest, it also liked to break traction in 3rd in the wet in a straight line!

I would love another one despite the fact that I thought it was a VERY awkward car to drive quickly!

The original tyres were A008Rs and the rims poked out beyond the sidewall by miles which made fast parallel parking in the dark impossible.

Steering wheel was massive.

EVERYTHING was built to a standard we will NEVER see again!

Agreed, and not to mention that the 965 would blow the doors off the (allegedly) 375bhp 355...

I am sure the Euro spec ones had silver centres on the wheels. The all chrome is very much an American look. I could be wrong but every one of these babies I have ever seen had the silver middles.

To this day remains the best thing I have ever driven.

The most stupid decision in my life not to buy when I had the chance.

Eighty thousand dollars for this car and you ain't got no damn cup holder?
It's $105,000 and this happens to be one of the fastest production cars on the planet. Zero to sixty in four seconds, sweetie. It's a limited edition.
You damn right it's limited. No cup holder, no back seat. Just a shiny dick with two chairs in it. I guess we the balls just draggin' the fk along.

I bought a 3.3 a few years ago. I love it, and can only recommend one if you fancy a 3.6 but like the idea of having all the looks and 95% of the performance whilst saving around £30k!!

PLUS - most 3.3's came with the Sports Seats where as very few 3.6's did! And they were an absolute MUST when I was searching for the 3.3 as they add so much to the driving experience.

Autocar pitted a 3.3 against some Kawasaki back in 1991 IIRC. Was a Rubystone one I think

Still my all time favourite car. I still think black is better but the styling, the interior and the speed, oh the speed is all so amazing. I want so much...

Am I right in thinking 0-60 in 5.3 seconds? Same as my XJR then :-)

As I remember the 0-60 was MEANT to be 4.8 but trying to launch it meant either terrible stinky clutch slippage or diabolical tramp so 4.8????? I`d like to see that launch! better to look at the 30-130 if those figures are anywhere!

I had a 1991 3.3 964 turbo (or 965) back in 2002.

Midnight blue, slightly lowered with a nicer steering wheel as standard.
I had no problem whatsoever with the handling, and I drove it very hard indeed. But I did respect the laws of physics-slow in, fast out, as in any 911, and the lag was not bad either.

I can't see how people scare themselves silly with the handling, unless you don't have a clue how to drive one.

To be honest, I found the 3.6 1991 M5 I had a few years previously to the 911 had a very flat engine until you got some revs on the clock, which was worse than the 965 when off-cam for 'lag'.

I found the 965 would easily lock an inside wheel in the wet when coming to a standstill if the surface was poor, or at least trigger the abs, even when braking normally. And I had a moment on a flooded road when going far too fast, which was my own fault. But in the wet the car was not a problem either, but I guess decent tyres and an LSD always help.

Got through tyres in weeks, not months. All four as well.

My head was turned when I followed a then-new e46 m3 and I could only just reel it in. So I've got one of them now and it is great.

I enjoyed the car, but was also glad to sell it as I felt the law of averages would catch up with me one day.
Like anything a bit extreme, you have to know what you are doing in it, or learn quickly.

Maybe I'm out of touch with modern cars, but I disagree with Mr Harris this time. To have owned a car that he finds scary is quite a feat.

Yep, Euro cars didn`t have polished centres, quite a bright, smooth finished silver but not polished, outer rims were polished though, made by Speedline I think!

So you didn't have a problem with it so long as you drove it with an eye on its 'features', but sold it because you did think it would bite you one day?

Presumably (although having had no experience of these cars myself) if you hadn't gone slow enough in or lifted-off mid-bend, it wasn't very forgiving? -Punishing!?

Is it the relative lack of weight on the front end that contributes to the apparent understeer at turn-in and the weight on the rear that contributes to the apparent oversteer?

So, is slowing and trail-braking on turn-in, but being aware of the back possibly coming around before getting smoothly onto the gas and respecting a potentially violent turbo shove the way to drive these cars?
