I had a restored beige round rear lamp manual 2002 in Germany in 1992/1993. Bog standard 100bhp with steel wheels and hubcaps. I loved it and it held its own on the Autobahn, as well as being fun on the country roads. Much more cultured and interesting than the ubiquitous Mk 1/2 Escort. I also tried a road-registered but race-prepared Tii when I came back to Blighty, but it had had one too many "offs" in its life to be trusted as a road car.

I think the wheel-arch extensions on a road car should be reserved for the Turbo though.

Great car and a really feel good video that.

I like the flared wheel arches - are they standard?

Lovely, just lovely.

And that, gentlemen, is a proper engine bay.

Thanks for sharing.

You think he'd have fixed that front apron!

Lovely car though - nearly bought a 2002 Convertible at auction last year, fell in love with it!
True, but it's a honest working car, great to see something like this being used.

That looks f***ing sweet with those arches and wheels. Love to get my hands on it and tidy it up abit. Mainly the broken front splitter, that would annoy me every time I looked at it.

2002 has long been a favorite!! These guys are legends, especially from Georgia where classic BMWs don't have much of a following.

Great post!

Thanks PISTONHEADS

Many thanks for noting! Yes m30 535 engine running triple webers! Interesting performance..... Now running an M3 rear end because for some reason it kept lunching diffs.

Beautiful car with some significant sentimental value for me. I learned to drive a stick shift on a 1973 2002 tii owned by a friend of mine. Nice guy with a friendly, generous and well-off dad. My friend let me have a good amount of time behind the wheel and I am forever grateful and thankful. Fairly dark metallic blue with black interior. I believe it was a 4-speed manual transmission that had a great feel to it.
Wow, what a way to learn to drive a manual friend. Thanks HD.

My Father had a string of 2002s, in the early '70s.

One that really stands out in my memory was a bright orange 2002tii, BFN 6K. Round rear lights. It was fabulous. I was only 7 or 8 when he had it!

Just checked online and it was last registered on 1/1/84 :-(

It looked just like this:

I still have one of those hubcaps hanging in my garage - 36 yrs on!

I've always prefered the almost-forgotten Neue Klasse 2000. I think it may be a bigger car than the 2002. Not sure.
