Isn't there some twist to the story of the McLaren F1 lights that are shared with a bus via an old TVR as mentioned earlier? Something about McLaren assuming TVR had them type-approved for use on non-commercial vehicles or in the UK or whatever only to find just how many corners TVR used to cut in the "good old days".

Or did I (or one of the Top Gear/GT twunts) make that up?

More front lights, these are probably obvious though... front indicator/sidelights on the Lotus Elan and McLaren F1

According to the Lotus and McLaren forums while I was looking for pictures, these lenses aren't available new, so there are a few clear lens conversions now for both cars. http://www.mclarenlife.com/forums/mclaren-p1-f1/54...

As weve gone away from rear lights onto all lights, here are mk1 ford focus indicators

Those lights look like they were designed for the Lambo and then Ford picked them up. They do follow the lines of the Lambo nicely.

And in other Lamborghini news, the Countach had the tail lights from the Alfetta 1.8 sedan....

Less shell suit reflective plastic surround and with classy looking thin chrome trim:

Posted a few pages ago. I thought it they were from the B1 Passat?

The coach uses 2 units each side. 1 unit all amber the other all red. On the VW the 1 unit has a single red lens and a single amber lens.

That's a Scimitar SE5 not SE5a. The 5a had the reversing lights built into the light unit.
SE5 lights are from a Hillman hunter

Also used on the appropriately named 70s Fairthorpe TX Tripper.

The Marcos mantis used the rather simpler Hillman Imp rear lights

That sounds like another excuse to post a pic of my Zenos. Double point for black rear panel, and sharing lights with the Alfa MiTo and 8C.

And the Espirit models.

Slightly more impressive though (i think) the Lotus Elan M100 shares the windscreen from the McLaren F1 road car -

Yours was a lot more involved than mine though! I saw the bus waiting to leave the Spanish Grand Prix and thought how odd. Like the fact the coach got a facelift too!

If we are onto front lights, the MG SV and mk2 Fiat Punto share headlights. Only the Punto before the facelift though

Not factory, but there's a 350Z with 991 rear lights

350z is a very popular car with serious modifiers. I know two people that are spending xxx hours on modifying them, in a bizarre way, usually making them look really quite good.

Which came first? Was there any relationship between the designers?

This is top geekery. Love it. The Elan having the Mac F1 screen is definitely the coolest, or uncool est thing I have found out today!

They came out at a similar time but I think the design started for the F1 road car a lot earlier.
