Is it me or have leaves always been brushed / blown on to the road ?Can't remember this ,even a couple of years ago!
I recall back in 2000 that there was problems with leaves not being sweep where I'd moved to in Hampshire (the town having so many trees there were lots of leaves). It was an issue in local press and I think it was related to wet weather making them difficult to sweep up.

I read this thread last night and haven't been able to sleep since.

This could possibly be one of the worst infringements of motorists' rights I've ever encountered.

I have scheduled a meeting with my local MP and am going to suggest that the UK embarks on a project to cut down every tree within 900 yards of a road. I'm taking this all the way. This government can not just sit there worrying about trivialities such as the economy while cars, motorcyclists and other misc road users are forced to back off ever so slightly on a few corners for a couple of days each year.

This country is going to hell in a handcart, I tells you.
Leaves kill and no one is thinking of the children.

Until there is legislation to prevent trees from littering and stiff penalties this problem is not going to go away.

To be honest, it's these newly evolved deciduous trees that have come over here and just don't respect out laws but are given the same rights. We need quotas. This country is going to st in a handcart.

But you go and complain to the council about a broad leaves tree and it's all 'they are protected, blah, blah'.

And then your wife runs off with one with their deep root system.

I say make them go back where they came from.

Is there not a legal requirement for trees to clear up their own leaves?

Out of interest, are you sure the leaves came from the same trees above them? I ask as I've been the victim of leaf tipping on my lawn. Yesterday my lawn was clear, this morning its covered in leaves! I know they're not from my tree as they're the wrong colour. My tree had green leaves on it, the ones on my lawn are yellow and red!

Throughout summer, I water my trees with a weak glue solution and every winter the leaves stay on the trees (true story....). wink

There can't be any fallen leaves on the road. They're all in my back garden.

Oddly we don't actually own any trees, but our garden seems to suck them in from all of the surrounding trees.

Still it keeps me busy: March - September mowing the lawn; October - December sweeping up the leaves; January - February clearing away the snow. I yearn for the olden days when I lived in a first floor flat. wink

First thought that came to me was we were going to be blamed for having trees in the hedgerows....

What the fk is wrong with driving to the conditions - its no ones fault, nothing can be done so man the fk up and stop trying to make it sound like something new. It happens every year, stop trying to blame something for your lack of ability to drive in a safe manner... Jeeesssssuussss!

I have just surveyed the neighborhood, and shockingly the trees are littering, not to fear...the use of a chainsaw has wiped the smile off their faces.....even saw a flower drop a petal...for f**k sake is there no law enforcement anymore

Reminds me of the huge genocide of aphids in the summer when they began dripping sugary sap all over the road. It was horrific.

Tube or three of Bostik and stick them back on. Use community service naughty people. That or turn the trees upside down.
