RE: New Maserati Quattroporte revealed
Discussion
I don't really understand why people say that about the Rapide. I'm 6'2" and could sit behind myself. It's no limousine, but it's OK. I can't even get my body into the rear of a DB9.
As for this QP, it doesn't wow the way the previous one did when it first appeared. It looks a bit heayv in the flanks and the front and rear ends are a bit dull.

shocked at the response on here..I always thought the previous Quattroporte looked poorly proportioned...this one looks 10x better in my opinion anyway...
That colour does the new one no favours at all. To be fair, I can't see it doing the new one any good either. Would like to see it in black or something.Gizmoish said:
Is this a facelift or a new car?
BTW: I love the first 'new QP' - like this http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C303691
Cor, they've ripped that right off an Audi haven't they:BTW: I love the first 'new QP' - like this http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C303691
No? Nobody?
The front looks like they tried to squeeze a GranTurismo in it, and the rear could be mistaken for a German very, very easily. I braced myself at the thought they couldn't really do much to improve the looks of the outgoing Quattroporte, and it seems like they didn't find the magic to wipe that concern of the table.
This looks so much better.
A Quattroporte has to look a bit alien in the gray mass of cars. This one doesn't really pull that off.
This one did.

There's definitely a beauty in the unique shape of the old model, there's not many cars these days that look so good in brown metallic. So while I understand why some people would think this is better proportioned, I'd say isn't that just another way of saying conventional?
And I don't know what you call them - those Gran Turismo bits on each side of the bottom of the front end - the bits that make it look like a Space Invader...just me then...don't like them, way too fussy. A lazy update.
If I had £25k to spend on a luxury saloon it would be the old model in a heartbeat.

I love the rear end on the previous model. Looks bloody lovely, very curvy, four fat pipes sicking out and that badge. So different from anything else and a cut above the generic A6/A8/5/6 series. New one however, from those pictures at least looks dull and generic. This one did.

I love the last pre-facelift version (2004-2007) and I'm currently searching for a good one (GTS preferably). IMO they are the best looking cars made in the past 20 years.
Not sure about this one until I see it in the flesh. Looks like a committee had their hands on it...
Just make sure the shocks aren't borked. Not sure about this one until I see it in the flesh. Looks like a committee had their hands on it...
Made my eyes water, proper wallet lightener.
What is it with this old mans gold colour at the moment. There's a Z4 in that colour by me and it looks terrible. It must hammer owners come part X time.
And they are now presenting Italian super saloons at launch in this bile.
Compared to a black XJR this looks positively Victorian.
Fail!!
