I was in a registrar's office a couple of weeks back and according to a poster on the wall 'Riley' is the 7th most popular boy's name in that area. On another list I saw, 'Lucas' is in the top 20 - why would anyone what to name their son after the Prince of Darkness?

You'd hope the children would grow up to be right tts if they're named after cars.

Seem to remember an Auto Express article from years ago with someone naming their daughter Lexus. She'll probably get endless amounts of stick and then wind up being a second rate stripper in a bar where the star is called Mercedes.
Nice comments you have made, maybe you should have been called Friendlee Bongo then you might not be speculating on kids futures so negatively .

I just looked up Austin Healey (rugby player) and his parents really did name him that. Always thought it must have been a nick name. I find that a bit odd tbh but it certainly didn't seem to affect his rugby.

We've called our son Jenson. But not after Mr button or the car. We liked the name for about 8 or 9 year's. Hadn't heard of either of them then. It was an article I was reading about some one who climbed loads of mountains and it was either him or the author called that.
Of course every one still thinks it's after Mr button. I'm not even a fan of F1

My ex gf's mother fell pregnant and they both loved the name Aston for a boy, I said "You can't name him that with your second name!" they looked confused and asked "Whats wrong with Aston Martin? It sounds really nice" I agreed and left them to it, we split shortly after, luckily it was a girl...

Well my last name is Croft, so they'll more likely than not have a motorsport-related name!
I do like Mallory and Morgan as girl/boy first names though.

My daughter is called Tasmin

I was looking for names for months and whilst browsing the classifieds I saw the name and loved it - still do.

(Bit of a rubbish car though)

Thats probably the worst bit about naming a kid after a car. That and girls named after a 'prestige' brands always sounds like some sort of high class 'escort'. Which thinking about it is a good direct parallel with not prestige brands.

I guess it depends on how obvious a 'car' name it is. Most people wouldn't even realise Jensen or Austin were cars but call them Porsche,Mercedes,Ford,Audi or Ssangyong and it starts to look ridiculous.

Surely the best thing is to have cars named after your kids i.e. Dino...
