I really hope this is a joke! Portia, yes, Porsche, no, but at least it's spelt correctly, Porschea? Seriously?

Years ago I had a neighbour called Austin Morris. He drove a company Cortina for a well-known whisky brand.

I also had an acquaintance in the motorcycle trade who had quite a few children and all named after bikes - Harley, James, Frances, etc, etc.

Should have anglicised it further, behold, the new Lotus Elsie! Who wouldn't want one of those? smile

My eldest daughter's name is Felicity and I once owned a Felicia (a long time ago, no abuse please), though I've only just made the connection now. It was my wife who suggested the name Felicity and I later discovered it was the name of her childhood doll.

Our son is named Riley spelt like the car. We did list through car names when we were choosing.
An excellent choice sir! I'm afraid I was unable to reciprocate with the name 'Standard'.

My daughter is called Eleanor. I suggested the name to my wife, without explanation. She liked the name and agreed that it was "the one". I then explained to her why I'd suggested it. She was o.k. with it anyway.
My friends didn't need the explanation.

Nothing makes you out as sadder than naming your kids after your hobby.

John Button would probably disagree with you.
He was named after a rival, not the car

Very thin line between this and chav names though I like Aprilia and did once moot it as a name - extremely unsuccessfully. One of my pet hates is kids called Shelby. Or dogs for that matter. I think kids should have names that don't put them at risk of having the p*ss taken out of them.
Never liked my name for that reason and my middle name was my father's name meaning I couldn't really use that. My kids have normal names.

He was named after a rival, not the car
"Jenson Alexander Lyons Button was born on January 19 1908 to parents John Button and Simone Lyons in Frome, Somerset, in the west of England. He was the last of four children, with three older sisters named Tania, Samantha and Natasha, and attended local schools Selwood Middle School and Frome Community College. He currently lives in Monaco and is a talented triathlon competitor in addition to his F1 skills.
As the son of a well-known former Rallycross ace, he had the racing bug in his blood from an early age. This also will not have been harmed by his having been named after a car marque – in this case, the British sports car manufacturer Jensen responsible for such iconic vehicles as the Interceptor and the FF."
I have read this quote before but also understand that John Button did also have a racing friend called Jenson.
The spelling is wrong for the car company. Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia

I read that and wanted to cry.

I've met a surprisingly large number of girls named Porsche whose parents are still unaware of the name Portia and believe it was acceptable and reasonable to name their daughter that rolleyes
