I quote a certain Mr Kahn:

http://kahndesign.com/news/news_detail.php?i=444#....

"Furthermore, owners are allowed to move letters and numbers closer together to easily spell words under a relaxation of the rules. The change allowed more words to be created – potentially boosting government coffers. So let’s say you managed to get hold of “D4 RTS”, you would be able to move the two parts of the number together to make “D4RTS”."

What the actual fk?!? rolleyes

Sirs

Please let me know your reference / justification / authority for this rather surprising comment on your web site:

Seen about half an hour ago on the M3, a lovely Ferrari 430 in Rosso Corsa + racing stripe, with the numberplate J4PPO in a non-standard bold-italic font with no spacing (pretty much like I have managed to render it here).

Nice car, but very tacky numberplate which, along with the stripe, really looked like someone trying too hard. Sorry.
You certain that was a kosher car Jon? Seem to remember that plate from my life back South when it was on a replica Fezza. Of course, the boy might have done good since then and progressed to the real McCoy but...
A plate check confirms that it is indeed on a 2008 Feerrari F430 Scuderia smile
Had the plate since 1999, Jappo is my nickname and I am known for trying too hard, but the plate has NEVER appeared on a replicar smile

Your old 360 sporting the said number plate that's now on your 430?

Non standard font, bold, italic, miss-spaced = perfect example of a 'crappy' plate.
Guilty as charged
