I think the issue is the illegal "show" plate, illegal spacing and dubious positioning (or colour) of the second screw cap.

Indeed. It is an illegal plate as Jayesdgee correctly describes. Thees are becoming so common to make this question inevitable. Is anyone actually trying effectively to prevent this practice. Not many from what we can see on here.

A pond dweller on Police Interceptors tonight got done for a 'German' plate £60.00, plus some very cheepo rear lights that seemed to not have reflectors...another £30.00
It is happening but not as much as i would like
