This story is great. I love the idea of a mostly impractical V12 being used to undertake country sports.

I always think its a shame to have to take an estate car or Range Rover when doing these kinds of things (including Mountain Biking, Climbing and Hiking too) when you are passing over some of the best roads in the country.

Now with the Ferrari Estate you have the best of both worlds.

The story lacks drama, much like the car.

This.

Also who the f**k uses the term 'Shooting Brake' these days other than pretentious tts.
^^ This, what does that phrase actually mean anyway? Car with a large\extended boot used to be called estates but I guess that word isn't cool anymore. It's stupid and I wish people would stop with it already.

As for the article, mildly interesting but as others have mentioned, could have done with a bit more written about the car, rather than the shooting.

There is litterally nothing about the car in there with the exception that you can get some stuff in the boot and it has heated seats.

Aside from the "we borrowed a £200k car and went on a jolly" this artical says absolutely nothing.

stag (stg) n.1. The adult male of various deer, especially the red deer.

Bit of a claimer that one.

Honestly, PH, what the funk were you thinking?

This article is worse than the worst of contrived TopGear challenges, even Clarkson would have turned away from the killing of animals for a road-test. I'm all for gun sport, I shoot, but this just seems a bit beyond the line. I don't get it... killing a stag so you can write about a Ferrari.

Garlick/Stuart, I'm not sure which of you is ultimately in charge of what gets published, but would you care to comment on why anyone thought this was A Good Idea?

I've watched it as far as the FF booting it away up the road.

Reminds me of some twitchers competition Bill Oddie did a couple of decades ago where teams raced around spotting birds. I think Oddie's team had a Porsche 928S.

What a bizarre article, you begin by telling us what a 'Macnab' is & that it has to be completed within 24hrs, then set off on a challenge that will take you three days.

Did I tell you about the time that I crossed the Atlantic single-handed? I did it on the QE2.

Maybe you could have taken the car to a homeless shelter and shouted "we could have bought a house, but got this instead". That might have been a bit more tasteful than shooting a stag.

I didn't think they would actually kill the animals, just use it a concept to base a road trip around. Of course I realise this kind of thing goes on, just seems a bit distasteful to write about it in such a fashion.

To be fair the Stag was killed as part of a cull.

Not that I think its a particularly well written or useful article but lets not get tooooo Daily Mail on it.

Much as hate to jump on the bandwagon, there's next to bugger all about the car in here. Other than revealing that he didn't actually use it to go off road get to the shoot thus defeating the point of the article. It's a not very good hunting article. The only interesting point was that I'd never heard of a Macnab and it seems that it didn't even get that right.

I've edited the article for the benefit of car fans, redacting the non-car related bits:

article said:
You can fit a load of camera gear, guns and red bull in the boot of the FF
It does 250 miles on a tank of Super Unleaded
It does 90 motorway miles with ease
It has heated seats
"For 90 per cent of the time, it's just a car," "but for that other 10 per cent it's just incredible."
It doesn't miss a beat

Couldn't care less about shooting animals. I eat meat so I can't really complain about the hunting part.

3 days, 200k car, 1000 word article written in about 20 minutes on the train in. Nice one

You missed that it's loud to the point of being anti-social. Apart from that, yes, I believe the car content is covered in your post.

Yes, that epidemic of deer attacking stately homes around the nation. Only the killer African bees and cellulite are a bigger priority.

I really enjoy Fieldsports britian - some very enthusatic fellows on there, and something Im quite passionate about.

I thought this was very well done when I watched it the other day, with a good mixture of both and a fairly decent presenter. Bear in mind its suppost to be a thing about a car for people who are more intrested in fieldsports.

A good program and good to see it getting bigger audences.

A shame to see the uneducated and general antis are missing the point of this though - please find out about why things are done before you comment. Find out about the situation first please. The countryside is not such a well balnced atmosphere naturally, some animals have to be controlled, or they wpoul spiral out of control and damage others, a good example of this is badgers, but that is another thread...

I will re-iterate. This was a program for a fieldsports Channel on youtube. It is about hunting primarily not the car. (glad to see that someone on the PH newsdesk is a fan though)

Sounds like an epic car to complete and epic journey in.
