Anyone got any experience of these?

As a country boy I dont do much parallel parking but was ok with my old 88" Landy. The same unfortunately cant be said for the Disco 2, especially with the fking great Dixon Bate towbar sticking out the back end.
There is a possibility I may be bringing my D2 to Bristol with me after xmas, subject to sufficient lubing up for the insurers to change my policy from 2k miles/garage/countryside to 4k miles/street/city centre.
Now, I dont particularly want an insurance claim for someone's front bumper/radiator when trying to squeeze a huge truck into a normally tiny spaces, so have been considering electronic aids. What do people make of these? I had no idea parking sensors were so cheap!

How is 0.4m dangerous distance
what distance do parking sensors normally turn to a solid ton at then?also to be fair, the towbar sticks a good 15-20cm out from the bumper so 0.4m would only leave a 20cm gap which is close enough in my mind allowing for rolling back or some other accidental mistake
