Love the Car and the Looks and im sure its more than fast enough in any situation.

Does nobody else see it as a bit weird that it 'only' (being relative) does 183mph top end the 10 year old vanquish s with 520 bhp did 200+?? it seems a bit low??

I'd say a typo. No way its aero is that poor or the engine/trans cooling is that bad.

Why does the article switch from referring to the Vanquish to a DBS? Have I missed something?

I think Aston have hit the nail on the head with this car. There product portfolio is now concise with a clear differentiation between the cars. Well done Aston!

Hmmmmmm...maybe this photo has swung it for me... hehe

Looks like a Nissan that has run over some black bin liners....the front valance is hideous. The back looks dated too IMO. Rear haunches too bulky....no....DB9 still has it.

I like most Aston's but this looks like a DB9 with some dubious modifications. Not keen on the wheels, front valance, rear wing detail or side skirt thingies. I'd have a used DB9 and a shed load of change.

Allegro-style steering wheel = fail

Column stalks from late-90s/early-00s Fords/Jag X-type = fail

Styling that ignores its home market and is cynically aimed at punters in China and the Mid-East, and Cheshire = fail

Six-speed ZF 'box when all others, including penny-pinching Jag, now spec the 8-speeder = fail

£190k for performance that barely matches the 10-year-old 575M = fail

Inability to produce an engine that produces at least 105bhp/litre = fail

And before the apologists chime-in that Aston's customers don't want a Tarmac-melting hotrod with poke to match a 12C, or even an SLS, please, wake-up and smell the coffee - at present, very few people want an Aston, period, which is why sales are sliding and the current majority share-holder is trying to sell.

All of which is rather sad frown

Perhaps the Vanquish figures were a bit optimistic.

Different gearbox, and more aero is more likely to be the cause. Not that it really matters anyway.

Like the looks and the sound. BUT my biggest bugbear with Astons is the interior. Quite frankly, it's a joke for a car that costs this much. All the other players at this pricepoint and many below wipe the floor with it in terms of fit and finish...

Exactly. Though as a business decision , understandable.

I must say that in the flesh, this car really does look very lovely indeed.

Pictures don't do it justice. It makes the DB9 look dated when you see one for real.

I'd say the exact opposite.

I find the interior in my car is a far nicer place to be than any rival. The Conti GT is nice but is too dull. No others even come close.

The color of the one in the article does it no favors.

I really dislike how Aston always insist on black steering wheels no matter what the rest of the interior color is. Looks very cheap and lazy of them.

It looks good, but now the 'new' DB9-that's-definitely-not-a-Virage thing is too close. I do think the power figure should really be starting with a 6 though, bearing in mind an SLS with the same power is over £20k cheaper.
But what would you rather own, a Mercedes or an Aston Martin..?

Oh dear. Here we go again. Lots more power - lots more electrickery - lots more weight. Just the sort of thing Harris was on about.

Indeed, but for customers worldwide who've hitherto bought into Aston's Britishness, let's hope that Reichman's generic 'new world bling' isn't the wrong business decision.

To be honest, love it or hate it, the fact that opinion is so divided surely means that Aston have made a mistake here? I always thought Astons were meant to be powerful yet elegant. This looks horrendous in my opinion. Rather have a DBS by miles. This looks chincy.

It certainly doesnt look better. There is a man down my road who works for Aston Martin and he actually has a dark blue one of these frequently on his drive (much to my suprise, its been on his drive for months, he also had one covered in a disguising tape, but it is 100% the new vanquish) and I can tell you now that its actually shocking how plastic and cheap it looks up close.
sounds like a development car. i used to get them when i worked in the industry. they range from 50% complete cars with interiors, parts and even engines from other models hacked up to fit with fiberglass panels to 99% 'production' evaluation cars... if it looks shockingly plastic it probably is

Erm, Cheshire is within its home market
